to be a Veterinary Surgeon to the Government of New Zealand (temporary appointment only), in terms of “The Civil Service Reform Act 1886 Amendment Act, 1887,” and Inspector of Stock under “The Stock Act, 1893.” To date from the 1st May, 1897.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Waipipi Road District, County of Manukau.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Waipipi Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

THE following is the result of a poll taken by the Waipipi Road Board on the 27th day of November, 1896, on a proposal to raise a loan of £800 for metalling a portion of the main Waiuku-Maioro Road:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 77; number of votes exercisable, 83; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 47; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 51.
As a majority of ratepayers, exercising more than half the total number of votes, voted in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare it to be carried.

OTAKI ROAD DISTRICT, SPECIAL DISTRICT No 7.
THE following is the result of the poll taken on the 27th of April, 1897, on a proposal to borrow £350 under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of constructing the Rangiuru-by-the-Sea district roads:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 17; number of votes exercisable, 18; number of ratepayers who voted in favour of loan, 11; number of votes recorded in favour of loan, 12.
As a majority of the number of ratepayers, having a majority of the number of votes exercisable, voted in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the same to be carried.

TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.
Notice is hereby given that the poll of ratepayers of No. 6 Subdivision of the Taratahi-Carterton Road District upon the proposal to raise a Government loan of £400 for the construction of the works hereinafter stated, and to make a special rate of 1/5d. in the pound in connection therewith, annually recurring for twenty-six years, has been taken at the Belvedere Dairy-factory buildings, Belvedere Road, near Carterton, on the 19th day of April, 1897, and has resulted as follows:—
Total number of ratepayers on roll, 101; total number of votes exercisable by them, 115; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 60; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 71; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 5; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 5; number of ratepayers who did not vote, 35; number of votes not recorded, 38; number of ratepayers who voted informally, 1; number of informal votes given, 1.
As more than one-half of the total number of ratepayers on the roll, having more than one-half of the total number of votes exercisable, did vote in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare that the said proposal has been duly carried.
Works intended to be constructed.
- Forming, metalling, and culverts, Anderson’s Line; about 40 chains, £150.
- Forming, metalling, and culverts, Brooklyn Road; about 25 chains, £50.
- Forming, metalling, and culverts, Cobden Road; about 30 chains, £75.
- Forming, metalling, and culverts, Belvedere Road; about 12 chains, £25.
- Extending the existing bridge over the Maungatereau River on Belvedere Road by one span, £100.

TARATAHI-CARTERTON ROAD BOARD.—RESULT OF LOAN POLL.
Notice is hereby given that the poll of ratepayers in the Te Whiti Bridge special rating area, comprising Sections 14, 15, 17, and 18, Block XVI., Tiffen Survey District, upon the proposal to, jointly with the Masterton Road Board, raise a loan of £1,200 for the construction of a bridge over the Ruamahanga River at Te Whiti, and to make a special rate of 4½d. in the pound in connection therewith, annually recurring for twenty-six years, has been taken at Mr. Renall’s homestead, Te Whiti, near Gladstone, on the 27th day of April, 1897, and has resulted as follows:—
Total number of ratepayers on special roll, 5; total number of votes exercisable by them, 8; number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 3; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 6; number of ratepayers who did not vote, 2; number of votes not recorded, 2.
As more than one-half of the total number of ratepayers on the special roll, having more than one-half of the total number of votes exercisable, did vote in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare that the said proposal has been duly carried.

Result of poll taken on the 26th day of April, 1897, upon the proposal to borrow £1,650, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” to (a) bridge the Patea River on the Skinner Road North, and make the necessary approaches to the said bridge; (b) form, grade, and metal the Skinner Road North from the East (Ohura) Road to the southern corner peg of Section 124, Block II., Ngaiere Survey District:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 10; number of votes exercisable, 12; number of ratepayers voting in favour of the proposal, 7; number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 9; number of ratepayers voting against the proposal, nil.
I declare the above proposal to be carried.
