Officer under “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,” Wellington District, appointed.

IT is hereby notified that, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by section 9 of “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,”

WILLIAM ALFRED COLLIER, of Wainui-o-mata,

has been appointed an officer for the purposes of that Act for the Counties of Hutt, Horowhenua, Wairarapa North, Wairarapa South, Pahiatua, Oroua, Manawatu, Kiwitea, and Pohangina, and for all the town districts and boroughs situated within the said counties.

Appointment of Chairman, Railway Board of Appeal, North Island.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Aka Aka Drainage District, County of Manukau.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Aka Aka Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

AKA AKA DRAINAGE BOARD.

THE following is the result of the poll taken on the 19th October, 1896, on a proposal to borrow £600, under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the purpose of completing the drain known as the Eastern Drain, and deepening the present main drain known as Casey’s :—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 43 ; number of votes exercisable, 45 : Number of ratepayers who voted in favour of loan, 30 ; number of votes recorded in favour of loan, 31 ; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, 5 ; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 5.

There being a majority of votes and voters in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare it carried.

THE following special orders, made by the Otaki Road Board, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

OTAKI ROAD BOARD.

SPECIAL ORDER, confirmed by the Otaki Road Board at a Special Meeting held on the 17th April, 1897.

THAT this Board intends, by special order, to form a special district, to be called Special District No. 7, comprising the following properties: Nos. 1 to 95, Rangiuru-by-the-Sea Township; Native reserves, Parimata 15b and Waiariki 1b, Waitohu Survey District, VIII. The said special district being formed for the purpose of raising a loan of £350, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, for the construction of the district roads within the special district, and for the striking of a special rate to pay for interest on the said loan.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing special order was duly made on the above date, as required by “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

THAT this Board proposes to borrow from the Colonial Treasurer, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, the sum of £350 for the construction of the district roads within Special District No. 7. (First) To make a special rate of ½d. in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable properties within the boundaries of the Special District No. 7 (exclusive of Crown and Native lands within the meaning of “The Crown and Native Lands Rating Act, 1882”), to pay for interest on the said loan. (Second) That the cost of raising the loan and the first year’s interest be paid out of loan.

I hereby certify that the foregoing special order was duly made on the above date, as required by “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”
