A PROCLAMATION.

W H E R E A S by the tw enty-th ird section of " The Land
Act, 1892," it is ena cted that the G overn or, by Pro -
clama tio n in the G azette, may from time to time establish
and define, abolish, alter, or reconstitute local di stricts for
the sale or disposal of land, and in like manner from time
to time may appoint Land Offi cers or other persons for con -
ducting sales of land in such local di stricts, and for receiv ing
applications for the sale, lettin g, disposal, or occup ation of
C rown lands, and for generally carrying into effect the pro -
visions of the said Act :
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Admin istr ator
of the Government of the C olony of New Zeal and, do hereb y
appoint

LLEWELLYN SMITH

to be the Land Offi cer, in the place of Eric Charles Gold
S mith, from the fi rst day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and n inety-sev en, for conductin g sales of land
and for receiv ing applications for the sale, lettin g, and
dispos al or occup ation of C rown lands, and for generally
carrying into effect the prov isions of the said Act within the
Pov erty Bay Local Land District, as established by Pro -
clama tio n da t ed the tw enty -eigh th day of Octob er, one
thousand eight hundred and eight y.

Prendergast, K n ight, C hief J ustice, Adminis -
trator of the Government in and over Her
M a j esty's C olony of New Zeal and and its De -
pendencies, at the Government House, at W elling -
ton ; and issued under the Seal of the said C olony ,
this tw enty -fi rst day of April, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and n inety -
sev en.

W H E R E A S by the tw o hundred and th irty -fi fth sec -
tion of " The Land Act, 1892," it is ena cted that the
G overn or may from time to time, either by general or par -
ticul ar description, and whether the same has been survey ed

or not, reser v e from sale temp orarily , notw it hstanding that
the same may be then held under pastoral license, any
C rown lands which in his opinion are required for any of
the purposes in the said section mentioned :
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Admin istr ator
of the Government of the C olony of New Zeal and, in exercise
and pursuance of the powers and authorities v ested in me
by the said Act, do h ereb y temp orarily reser v e from sale the
lands in the Land District of Otago described in the S chedule
hereto for the purpose of a recr eation -ground.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that p arcel of land in the Town of C romwell, containing
by admeasur ement 4 acr es, more or less. Bounded towards
the north by Horace Street ; towards the east by a right line
being the production in a southerly direction of the east ern
side of Sonora Street ; towards the south by a right line
being the production in an easterly direction of the north ern
side of C romwell Street ; and towards the west by G a y
Street.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Adminis -
trator of the Government, this fi fteent h day of
A pril, one thousand eight hundred and n inety -
sev en.

east by the C ounties of W estland and W ait aki.
