WAIMATE ROAD BOARD.
SPECIAL orders re Oeo Road £700 and £850 Loans, Watino Road £400 Loan, and Mangawhero Road £300 Loan:—
That, to secure repayment of a loan of £70, and interest thereon, being an additional advance of 10 per cent. on the Oeo Road Loan of £700 raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming and metalling, building bridge and culverts, on the Oeo Road from the Eltham Road to the Opunake-Stratford Road, a special annual-recurring rate of 3d. in the pound be made and levied for a period of twenty-six years over the Oeo Road Special Rating-area, comprising Sections 2 to 6, 11 and 12, Block IX., and Sections 9 and 13, Block V., all in the Kaupokonui Survey District. Such rate to be payable, if required, on the 1st day of January in each year of the aforesaid period.
That, to secure repayment of a loan of £85 and interest thereon, being an additional advance of 10 per cent. on the Oeo Road Loan of £850 raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming and metalling the Oeo Road from the Eltham Road to a point at the southern boundary of Section 11, Block XIII., Kaupokonui Survey District, a special annual-recurring rate of 3/16d. in the pound be made and levied for a period of twenty-six years over the Oeo Road Special Rating-area, comprising Sections 1, 2, 3, 8 to 12, Block XIII., and the southern portion (27 acres) of Section 25, the southern portion (25 acres) of Section 26, the eastern portion (66 acres), of Section 30, and the western portion (40 acres) of Section 31, Block IX., all in the Kaupokonui Survey District. Such rate to be payable, if required, on the 1st day of January in each year of the aforesaid period.
That, to secure repayment of a loan of £40 and interest thereon, being an additional advance of 10 per cent. on the Watino Road Loan of £400 raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of draining, forming, and metalling the Watino Road from the Eltham Road to a point 1 chain below the Railway Reserve, a special annual-recurring rate of 3/15d. in the pound be made and levied for a period of twenty-six years over the Watino Road Special Rating-area, comprising Sections 76 to 79, 81, Block XI., and Sections 13, 15, and 16, Block XIV., all in the Opunake Survey District. Such rate to be payable, if required, on the 1st day of January in each year of the aforesaid period.
That, to secure repayment of a loan of £30 and interest thereon, being an additional advance of 10 per cent. on the Mangawhero Road Loan of £300 raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming and metalling portions of the Mangawhero Road from the Eltham Road south to the Railway Reserve, a special annual-recurring rate of 3/32d. in the pound be made and levied for a period of twenty-six years over the Mangawhero Road Special Rating-area, comprising Sections 75, 77, 89, and 94, Block X., Sections 6, 18, and 19, Block XIV., all in the Kaupokonui Survey District. Such rate to be payable, if required, on the 1st day of January in each year of the aforesaid period.
I hereby certify that the above four special orders were duly made in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

THE following special order, made by the Egmont Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT a special rate of 2d. in the pound be now struck, made, and levied on the rateable value of all lands (Crown and Native lands excepted) in the Egmont, Pitt, and a portion of the Dorset Roads Special District, being part of the Egmont Road District, for the purpose of metalling and forming portions of the Egmont Road, as described in the Schedule hereto.
Schedule.
All the lands that lie within the following boundaries, that is to say: Bounded towards the north by the southern boundary of the Devon Road; thence by the southern boundary of the Devon Road to the north-west corner of Section 4, Hua District; thence by the western boundaries of Sections 4 and 6 to the north corner of Section 46; thence along the north-western boundary of the said Section 46 to its western corner; thence in a south-easterly direction, by the western boundaries of Sections 46, 48, 49, 51, 53, 55, 56, 60, 61, 64, 65, 67, 69, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, and 82, to the Mangaoraka Stream; thence by the said stream to the southern boundary of Section 45, Hua and Waiwakaiho Hundred; thence by the north boundary of Section 46, the Egmont Road, to the northern boundary of said Section 47, the Araheke Stream, and the north-western boundary of Section 48 to the Waiwakaiho Stream; and thence by the said stream to the Araheke Stream, by the said stream to the south-eastern boundary of Section 159; thence by the western boundary of Section 160, bounded toward the north by a swamp, towards the west by Section 135, to the south-east corner of Section 137; thence by the southern boundary of said Section 137 to the eastern boundary of Section 160; thence by the eastern boundaries of Sections 160, 31, and 32 to the Mangonaha Stream; thence by the said stream to the southern boundary of Devon Road, the starting-point.
Such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and payable in two equal instalments on the 1st days of May and November in each year.
I certify that the above special order was passed by the Egmont Road Board, in conformity with “The Road Board Act, 1882,” and “The Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” on the 20th day of March, 1897.

Notice respecting Native and Imported Game.

THE attention of sportsmen, game-dealers, and others is called to the provisions of “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1889,” and of “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1895,” which are now in force. A digest of the chief of such provisions is subjoined, viz.:—
“THE ANIMALS PROTECTION ACT AMENDMENT ACT, 1889.”
Section 4. No person shall kill, destroy, or shoot at any game or native game with anything but a shoulder-gun, and no such gun must exceed size No. 10 at muzzle, or be fitted with barrels exceeding 36 in. in length. No gun shall exceed 10 lb. in weight.
Any person offending against this provision is liable to a penalty not exceeding £10.
Section 5. No person shall sell any native game, or take or kill any native game for the purpose of sale, without previously taking out the required license.
Penalty not exceeding £20.
Section 6. No sale of native game shall take place prior to the 1st May and subsequent to the 1st August in any year.
If any person hold a license to sell game—i.e., imported game—he is not liable to pay a second fee on taking out a license to sell native game. But both licenses must be taken out if it is intended to sell both kinds of game.

Section 6. Section 12 of “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” is repealed. No person can now sell game, or dispose thereof for any gain or reward, unless he be the holder of a license to sell such game.
Penalty not exceeding £20.
