Rural Lands in the Otago Land District open for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section
of "The Land Act, 1892," I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New
Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby
declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the
twelfth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven; and also that the lands mentioned in the said
Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase
or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable
stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold,
occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied,
or leased under and subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

Section 5: With the exception of about 25 acres, this section is all mixed-bush land, carrying black-pine and
manuka scrub; soil good; undulating to level; well watered. Situated 23½ miles from Owaka Railway-station, and is
accessible by formed road at the west corner. Suitable for mixed farming. Altitude, 40 ft. to 100 ft.

Section 6: Bush land, carrying pines, totara, and tea-tree scrub; about two acres swamp; soil good; undulating; well
watered. Accessible by Tahakopa River, three-quarters of a mile from formed road, and twenty-two miles from Owaka
Railway-station. Suitable for mixed farming. Altitude, 15 ft. to 100 ft.

Section 7: Mixed-bush land; bush consisting chiefly of pines, totara, fuchsia, and hine-hine; soil good; well watered.
Accessible by formed road 10 chains from the south-west corner of the section. Distance from Owaka Railway-station,
via Mouat's Saddle, seventeen miles. Suitable for mixed farming. Altitude, 70 ft. to 370 ft.

Section 8: Rather broken land, carrying mixed bush, which consists chiefly of totara, pines, birch, rata, fuchsia, and
hine-hine. Situated three-quarters of a mile from a formed road, and seventeen miles from Owaka Railway-station via
Mouat's Saddle. Suitable for grazing. Altitude, 100 ft. to 1,075 ft.

Section 9: Bush land, rather broken, carrying pines, totara, birch, rata, fuchsia, hine-hine, and manuka; well
watered. Accessible by Tahakopa River, and distant from Owaka Railway-station 16½ miles. Suitable for mixed
farming. Altitude, 15 ft. to 1,143 ft.

Section 10: Similar to Section 9. Situated sixteen miles from Owaka Railway-station. Altitude, 15 ft. to 1,143 ft.
Section 11: Similar to Section 9. Situated 15½ miles from Owaka Railway-station. Altitude, 15 ft. to 1,050 ft.
Section 12: Similar to Section 9. Situated 14½ miles from Owaka Railway-station. Altitude, 15 ft. to 1,000 ft.
