Appointing Days for closing under “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day of March, 1897.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the local authorities of the Borough Councils of Balclutha, Naseby, Carterton, and Brunner-ton, and of the Town Boards of Geraldine, Ormondville, Stratford, Southbridge, and Taradale, being duly authorised by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” to appoint by special resolution, in the month of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, the days on which shops in the said boroughs and Town Board districts are to be closed, in accordance with the said Act, have failed so to appoint days:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by section ten of the said Act, do hereby appoint the days set opposite the names of the said Borough Councils and Town Boards respectively to be the days on which shops shall be closed in the said boroughs and Town Board districts, in accordance with the said Act, viz.:

Borough Council of Balclutha .. Thursday.
Borough Council of Naseby .. Thursday.
Borough Council of Carterton .. Thursday.
Borough Council of Brunner-ton .. Wednesday.
Town Board of Geraldine .. Thursday.
Town Board of Stratford .. Thursday.
Town Board of Ormondville .. Wednesday.
Town Board of Southbridge .. Wednesday.
Town Board of Taradale .. Wednesday (excepting saddlers and blacksmiths, which shall close on Saturday).

Lands temporarily reserved in the Land Districts of Auckland and Southland.

JAMES PRENDERGAST, Administrator of the Government.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and thirty-fifth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Land Districts of Auckland and Southland enumerated in the first column of the Schedule hereto, for the purposes specified in the second column of the said Schedule and opposite the descriptions of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.
