NOTICE is hereby given that the several parcels of land hereinafter described will be brought under the provisions of “The Land Transfer Act, 1885,” unless caveat be lodged forbidding the same within one month from the date of the Gazette containing this notice.

EVIDENCE of the loss of certificate of title, Vol. xxix., folio 155, in favour of RIPEKA TE PEA and WIREMU TE PEA, for Section 34, Block XII., Aroha Survey District, having been lodged with me, and application made to issue a provisional certificate of title, notice is hereby given of my intention to issue a provisional certificate of title accordingly at the expiration of fourteen days after the date of the Gazette containing this notice.

Private Advertisements.

IN THE SUPREME COURT OF NEW ZEALAND,
NORTHERN DISTRICT.

In the matter of “The Companies Act, 1882,” and of the Poverty Bay Farmers’ Co-operative Association (Limited); and of the petition of Percival Barker and others for a winding-up order, presented and filed at Gisborne on the 19th day of November, 1897.

On Tuesday, the 14th day of December, 1897.

UPON the petition of Percival Barker, Frederick Hall, John Alfred Harding, and William Adair, contributors of the above-named association, filed herein on the 19th day of November, 1897, preferred unto me, a Judge of this honourable Court; and upon hearing Mr. Clayton, of counsel for the petitioners, Mr. Theo. Cooper, of counsel for the Bank of Australasia, a creditor of the said association, and Mr. Campbell, of counsel for other creditors of the said association; and upon reading the said petition and the affidavit of William Adair, one of the said petitioners, verifying the said petition, and the several additional affidavits filed herein, and the New Zealand Gazette of the 25th day of November, 1897, the Poverty Bay Herald of the 20th day of November, 1897, and the Telephone of the 27th day of November, 1897, each containing an advertisement of the said petition: I do order that the said Poverty Bay Farmers’ Co-operative Association (Limited) be wound up by this Court under the provisions of “The Companies Act, 1882”; and I do hereby appoint JOHN COLEMAN Official Liquidator of the said association; and I do order that the said John Coleman do, on or before the 24th day of December, 1897, give security, to be approved of by me, in the sum of £1,000; and I do further order that the said Liquidator shall have and may exercise, without further sanction or intervention of the Court, all or any of the powers mentioned in section 158 of the said Act, excepting only that he shall not have power to sell the whole of the business and property of the said association as a going concern without further reference to the Court; and, further, that the said Liquidator do, on the 19th days of February, May, August, and November, 1898, and on the same days in each succeeding year, leave his accounts at the office of this honourable Court at Gisborne; and, further, that all moneys to be received by the said Liquidator be paid by him into the Bank of Australasia at Gisborne to the credit of the Official Liquidator of the said association within seven days after receipt thereof; and I direct that the appointment of the said John Coleman as Official Liquidator of the said association shall be advertised once in the New Zealand Government Gazette, and once in the Poverty Bay Herald newspaper, published at Gisborne; and I do further order that the costs of the petitioners be taxed by the Registrar of this honourable Court at Gisborne, and paid out of the assets of the said association; and I direct that this order shall be served upon Mr. Dunlop, one of the Liquidators appointed by the association in the voluntary winding-up of the said association.

I, WALTER HISLOP, Manager of the Perpetual Trustees Estate and Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited), do solemnly and sincerely declare—

  1. That the liability of members is limited.

  2. That the capital of the company is £106,250, divided into 25,000 shares of £4 5s.

  3. That the number of shares issued is 21,669.

  4. That calls to the amount of seven shillings and sixpence per share have been made, under which the sum of £8,125 17s. 6d. has been received.

  5. That the amount of all moneys received on account of estates under administration during the half-year ending thirty-first day of October, 1897, is £13,412 1s. 7d.

  6. That the amount of all moneys paid on account of estates under administration during the half-year ending thirty-first day of October, 1897, is £11,186 8s. 10d.

  7. That the amount of the balance held to the credit of estates under administration during the half-year ending thirty-first day of October, 1897, is £2,633 17s.

  8. That the liabilities of the company on the first day of November last were debts owing to sundry persons by the company—viz.:

On judgment, nil.

On specialty, nil.

On notes or bills, nil.

On simple contracts, £14,175 12s. 8d.

On estimated liabilities, nil.

  1. That the assets of the company on that date were,—

Government securities, nil.

Bills of exchange and promissory notes, nil.

Other securities, £22,282 1s.

Cash at banker’s and on deposit, £1,015 10s. 2d.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

In the matter of “The Foreign Insurance Companies Act, 1884,” and of the Fire Insurance Company of 1877.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Fire Insurance Company of 1877 intends to cease to carry on fire insurance business in the Colony of New Zealand upon the expiration of three months from the publication of this notification.
