Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale
or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-
sixth section of "The Land Act, 1892," I, Uchter John
Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General
in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby
declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto
shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-
third day of February, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-eight; and also that the lands mentioned in the said
Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased
for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase
or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any lands con-
taining or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valu-
able stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I
do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall
be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Sche-
dule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold,
occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of
"The Land Act, 1892."

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—BAY OF ISLANDS COUNTY.
Unsurveyed Second-class Land.

All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District
situate in Blocks VI., VII., X., and XI., Kerikeri Survey Dis-
trict, and containing approximately 4,480 acres. Bounded
towards the north-east by the Crown land formerly known
as the Otuba Block, the Kapiro Stream, and the Rangitane
River; towards the east by the Kerikeri Inlet; towards the
south by Section No. 22 of Block XI., Kerikeri Survey
District, by a public road, and by the Waipapa River; and
towards the west by the western boundary of Block VI.,
Kerikeri Survey District, to the point of commencement.
Description of land: Open land of inferior quality,
situated at the head of the Kerikeri Inlet, Bay of Islands.
Cash price, 5s. per acre; occupation with right of pur-
chase, 3d. per acre per annum; lease in perpetuity, 2·4d.
per acre per annum.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this thirteenth day of December, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-seven.

Notifying Lands in Taranaki for Sale by Public Auction.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the one hundred and thirteenth section of
"The Land Act, 1892," I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of
Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby appoint Friday, the twenty-fifth day of February, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, as the time at
which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be
sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at
which the said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the
said Schedule hereto following the description of such lands
respectively.

Notifying Lands in Wellington for Sale by Public Auction.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the one hundred and thirteenth section of
"The Land Act, 1892," I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of
Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby appoint Wednesday, the second day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, as the time at
which the lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be
sold by public auction at Pahiatua; and I do hereby fix the
prices at which the said lands shall be sold as those men-
tioned in the said Schedule hereto following the description
of such lands respectively.

The Pongaroa Township is situated on the main Alfred-
ton–Weber Road, at its junction with the Pongaroa Road
from Makuri, in the Pongaroa Village, on the eastern side
of the Puketois, and in the centre of a large district taken
up under special-settlement conditions. It is distant about
thirty miles from Pahiatua, forty-two miles from Eketahuna,
forty miles from Dannevirke, and seventeen miles from the
Aohanga landing-place, on the East Coast, which at pre-
sent is accessible by bullock-drays. The Alfredton–Weber
Road is now formed from Alfredton, and the road from
Makuri towards Pongaroa is formed for horse traffic. The
sections being offered are level, and covered with light scrub,
grass, &c.

These allotments adjoin the Rakauini Village-homestead
Settlement, on the Alfredton–Weber Road, and consist of
level land, covered with heavy mixed forest. The country
for miles round this village has been taken up in 200-acre
sections, under farm-homestead conditions.

Pahiatua Village Settlement. — Subdivision of Section 77,
Block XVIII., Mangahao.

These sections are a subdivision of the above section,
which is situated in the Pahiatua Village Settlement, and
is distant from the Mangatainoka Railway-station about
70 chains. The land is level, with good alluvial soil on a
gravel formation, and is cleared and in grass.

hundred and ninety-seven.
