(hereinafter referred to as “the Board”), subject to the
stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—
- The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on
the first Saturday in each month, at three o’clock p.m., at
the Post-office, Devonport, or at such other time or place as
may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first
meeting shall be held on Saturday, the sixth day of February,
one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven. - Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or
by any two members of the Board, provided that two days’
notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
the business to be transacted at such special meeting, and no
other business than that so specified shall be transacted at
such meeting. - Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
meeting may be adjourned from time to time. - The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the first
Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter,
elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
his successor. - If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
time appointed for holding the same, the members present
shall choose some one of their number to be chairman of
such meeting. - If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise,
the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the
members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a
Chairman. - All questions shall be determined by the majority of
votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.
SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land in the Parish of Takapuna, Auckland Land District, being Allotment No. 39 of Section No. 2,
containing 17 acres 2 roods 26 perches. Bounded towards
the north by the southern boundary of Allotment No. 10,
710 links; towards the north-east by the margin of the
swamp which forms the south-western boundary of Allotment No. 11; towards the east by a road, 185 and 165 links;
towards the south-east by the north-western boundary of
Allotment No. 37, 700 links, and by the north-western
boundary of Allotment No. 36, 372 links; towards the south-west by the margin of the aforesaid swamp which forms portion of the north-eastern boundary of Allotment No. 15A,
and the north-eastern boundary of Allotment No. 14; again
towards the south-east by the margin of the aforesaid swamp
which forms portion of the north-west boundary of Allotment No. 14 aforesaid, and by a line, 100 links, which forms
the remainder of the north-western boundary of Allotment
No. 14 aforesaid; and towards the west by a road, 477 and
446 links.
Also, all that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 2 roods 14 perches, more or less, being Lots Nos. 36 and 37 of Section No. 2 of the Parish of Takapuna, Rangitoto Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Lot No. 39, 305 and 701 links; towards the east by a road-line, 487 links; towards the south by a road-line, 377 links; towards the south-east by a road-line, 354 links; and towards the south-west by a road-line, 351 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Fixing Date of Payment of Income-tax.
GLASGOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of December, 1896.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE R. J. SEDDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him under “The Land-tax and Income-tax Act, 1896,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and determine that the respective duties leviable under the said Act by way of income-tax shall be paid in one sum, on Friday, the twenty-ninth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven:
And in further pursuance and exercise of the power and authority aforesaid, and with the like advice and consent as aforesaid, His Excellency doth also determine that the place where the said duties of income-tax shall be payable shall be the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, at the Government Buildings, Wellington, and that notice to the foregoing effect shall be given by the said Commissioner accordingly.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of December, 1896.

THE HONOURABLE R. J. SEDDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS a petition, in terms of sections forty-two and forty-three of “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885,” has been presented to His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand from not less than fifty subscribers to the Reefton Ladies Benevolent Society, praying that the said society may be incorporated as a separate institution under the said Act: And whereas the substance of the said petition was gazetted on the twelfth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six, and no counter-petition has been received by the Colonial Secretary, or objection lodged with him by the District Board, within one month from the date of such publication:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885,” doth hereby declare the contributors for the time being to the said society to be a body politic and corporate by the style and title of “The Reefton Ladies Benevolent Society.”

Conferring Jurisdiction on Native Land Court.
GLASGOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of December, 1896.
Present:
THE HONOURABLE R. J. SEDDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is necessary that the ownership of the lands described in the Schedule hereto, and the relative shares and interests therein of the owners thereof, should be ascertained and determined; and, further, that it should be ascertained and determined to what proportion of the sum of fifteen hundred and ninety-three pounds, now in the hands of the Public Trustee, being the amount of compensation paid by the Government for the Arahura Native Reserve, the owners of the four hundred and seventeen acres reserved for a pa in the Arahura Native Reserve are entitled:
And whereas by section twenty-six of “The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1896,” it is provided that section fifteen of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” shall apply to (inter alia) the land described in the Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the several matters aforesaid shall be and the same are hereby brought within the jurisdiction of the Native Land Court as established by the said Act.
And it is hereby further declared that this Order shall take effect on and after the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.
SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land, containing by admeasurement 300 acres, more or less, situated at the eastern end of the Arahura Native Reserve, being a portion of that reserve undealt with in 1879 under the Royal Commission issued to Mr. Thomas Young.
