IN THE VALIDATION COURT,
AUCKLAND.

In the matter of the application of William James Butler for the validation of the interests claimed by him in Lots 287 and 288, Parish of Mangonui East and County of Mangonui, numbered 373Lc.

A. I, WILLIAM JAMES BUTLER, of Wellington, Judge of the Native Land Court, apply, under "The Native Land (Validation of Titles) Act, 1893," for the validation of the purchase claimed by me in No. 373Lc, and being Lots numbered 287 and 288 in Parish of Mangonui East, County of Mangonui, containing 550 acres.

B. I desire to appear before the Validation Court on Monday, the 11th day of January, 1897, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, or at the first sitting of the Court thereafter.

C. The nature of the transaction proposed for validation is a deed of conveyance, dated 14th day of April, 1871, made by Rapihana and Mereana Rapihana, of Mangonui, to William Butler, of Mangonui, settler, in consideration of the sum of £60 sterling, paid by the said William Butler to the said Rapihana and Mereana Rapihana.

D. The land which was by the said deed of conveyance intended to be alienated was the estate and interest of the vendors in No. 373Lc, situated in the County of Mangonui, the title to which was Crown grant.

E. The estate or interest which I seek to obtain in the said land through the aid of the Court is freehold.

F. The manner in which I came to be invested with the title or rights which I now claim to hold is as follows: Conveyance as aforesaid by the vendors.

G. My address for service is the office of Messrs. Beale and Beale, Solicitors, Auckland.

H. I desire the estate and interest of the person who executed the said deed of conveyance referred to in paragraph c hereof bound by the decree of the Court, and for that purpose require that copies of this application be served on Mereana Rapihana or her representatives.
