THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Hutt County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

COUNTY OF HUTT.—RIKIORANGI JOINT LOAN.
RESULT of a poll taken on the 11th day of November, 1896, on a proposal to raise a loan of £230 under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and amendments thereof, and “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and amendments thereof, for the purpose of constructing that portion of the Hutt—Waikanae Road which is situate between the railway-line at Waikanae and a point where the said road crosses the Waikanae River:—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 23, representing 27 votes: Number of ratepayers who voted in favour of proposal, 17, representing 21 votes; number of ratepayers who voted against proposal, nil; number of ratepayers who did not vote, 5, representing 5 votes; number of informal votes, 1.
As a majority in number of the ratepayers, representing more than one-half of the votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, voted in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.
