WAIWAKAIHO ROAD BOARD.

RESULT of poll for loan of £500 for the special rating district known as the Kent and Korito Special Rating District, in the Waiwakaiho Road District:—

I hereby give public notice that the poll taken on the 20th day of October, 1896, on the proposal to borrow £500 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for metalling and earthwork on that portion of the Kent Road from the inland terminus of the present metal to the junction of the Kent Road with the Korito Road, resulted as follows:—

Ratepayers on special roll, 39; votes exercisable on special roll, 39: Number who voted for the proposal, 21; number who voted against the proposal, 0.

As a majority of the number of ratepayers, having a majority of the number of votes exercisable, voted for the proposal, I declare the above-mentioned proposal duly carried.

SIR,—With reference to Lord Knutsford’s circular despatch of the 29th February, 1888, I have the honour to inform you that since that date the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Principalities of Monaco and Montenegro, and the Kingdom of Norway have acceded to the International Copyright Convention of the 9th September, 1886, and that Orders in Council were issued on the dates noted in the accompanying schedule extending to these countries, from the dates of the respective Orders, the provisions of the Order in Council of the 28th November, 1887.

THE Government of Western Australia have notified that the light from the lighthouse now in course of erection on Cape Leeuwin will be exhibited on and after the 10th December, 1896.

A BONUS of £200 is hereby offered for the discovery and working within the colony of a deposit or deposits of marketable mineral manure.

The following are the conditions under which the bonus is offered and will be paid:—

  1. That the raw material be easily accessible, and within reasonable distance of a road or railway.
