grazing-ran will be open for lcase on application on
and after Wednesday, the 2nd day of December, 1896, at

In event of any of the lots not being dispused of at auetion,
the will remain open for selection, in terms of "The Land
Act, 1892," on lcase, at the upscd rcntal.
**CONDITIONS.**
-
There arc no restrictons or limitations as to the num -
ber of lots which one person may acauire, and no declaraion
is required. Residcnce and improvcmcnts are not compul -
sory. No compcnsation shall be claimed by the lessees, nor
sball any be allowed by the Government on account of im -
provements effectcd by the lessee, nor from any other cause;
but lessees shall be allowed one month from the date of
dctcrminatcn of their lcase within which to remove any
buildings or fencs which they may have crcted upon the
lands compriscd in their lcase. -
Pcssession will be givcn on the day of sale.

Thc liccnscs shall be for the term of twelv months.

Thc liccnscs shall be subject to the following conditions,
amcngst others:—
(1.) That the licensee shall prevent the destruetion or
buring of timbcr or busb on or adjaeent to the
land compriscd in the license ;
(2.) That the licensee shall prevent the growth or spread
of gorse, broom, and sweetbriar on the land com -
prised in the license, and shall with all reasonable
specd remove or cause to be removed all gorse,
broom, sweetbriar, or other noxions wceds or
plants, as may be directed by the Commisioner
of Croun Lands; and
(3.) That the licensee shall destroy all rabbis on the
land compriscd in the license, and shall prevent
their increase or spread to the satisfation of the
Comissioner of Croun Lands or an officer
appointcd by him to inspcct the ground.

The licensee shall have the exclusive right of pasturage
over the lands specifid in his license, but shall have no right
to the sol, or timbcr, or minerals thereon or therein. -
One half-year's rent and the lcase-foe of £1 1s. shall be
paid in every instance on the fall of the hamnmer. The next
rent shall be paid on the 1st day of September, 1897. Should
the half-yearly rcntal at any period not be paid within thirly
days, a penality of 10 per cent. in addition will be cnforcod.
The half-year's rent payabie on the fall of the hamner shall
be considered the rent due on the 1st March, 1897, from
which date the lcase shall commencc. -
The lessee shall not cut or trim the live fcnccs now on
the land without the consent of the Commisioner of Croun
Lands, and he shall stub all gorse, broom, sweetbriar, and
other noxious plants. -
The lessee must properly clean, clear from wceds, and
keep open all creeks, drams, ditebes, and watereourses which
now are or may be upon the land, and the Commisioner of
Croun Lands shall have the power at any time to enter upon
and make any dran through the land that he may deen
necessary. -
The lessee shall be liable for all rates, taxes, and assess -
ments during the term. -
A right to search for and take grcvel for making or
maining roaas from any of the lands disposcd of is
reservcd; payment to be made for surface-damage only. -
The Government rescrves the right of ingross and
egress to the telegraph-line which passes through some of
the lands to be disposcd of. -
Lessees shall fcnce off all trees and plantations, and
sball not permit any trcsass thcrein or damage thereto,
and shall be held responsible for their safe eustody. -
In the event of the lessee faling to compl with any
of the covenants heroinfore mentioned relaing to the
stobbing gorse, broom, and sweetbriar, and to the cleaning,
clearing from wceds, and keeping open all creeks, drams,
ditebes, and watercourscs, it shall be lawful for the Com -
missioner of Croun Lands to have such work done, and to
rccover the cost of the same from the lessee.JOHn MCKENZIE,

This section is a portion of the Highbank Estatc, situatcd
on the southcrn side of the Rakaia River, about sixteen
miles inlan from Rakaia Township and Railway Town -
ship; altitude, about 900ft.; all flat; sol good, but ligher
than other porticns of the estate. More than one-half of
the section is in grass. Thc fcnccs comprisc 46 elains of
inferior gorse bcdge on the south-east bounary, 146 elains
of post, standard, and wire fencng on the north-east and
soutb-west bounaries, and 71 elains of subdivisional fcnccs.
