Notice published pursuant to the Provisions of Section 15 of
"The Public Trust Office Consolidation Act, 1894."

NOTICE is hereby given that, no person having taken
out administration, the Public Trustee has filed in
the Office of the Supreme Court at Wellington an election
to administer the several intestate estates of the persons
deceased whose names, residences, and occupations, so far as
known, are hereunder respectively set forth, their gross pro-
perties being estimated not to exceed £250 in each case.

Assembly of New Zealand passed in the forty-fourth
year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and in-
tituled “The Marriage Act, 1880,” the following names of
Officiating Ministers within the meaning of the said Act are
published for general information:—

Te Makarini Scholarships, held at Te Aute College, Hawke’s
Bay.
THREE scholarships of the yearly value of £35, tenable
for two years, are offered for competition. One of
these scholarships, to be called the senior scholarship, is
open to all Maoris under sixteen years of age at the end of
the month preceding the date of the examination ; the other
two scholarships are junior scholarships, and are open to all
Maoris under fifteen years of age at the end of the month
preceding the date of the examination who have not been
pupils at Te Aute or St. Stephen’s, and whose attendance
at school during the previous year is considered by the
Inspector of Native Schools to have been satisfactory.
The senior scholarship is offered for competition among
Maori boys on the conditions laid down in the regulations
of the Trustees of the Te Makarini Scholarships Fund, as
printed in the Native Schools Code, 1893, and in the supple-
mentary regulations that have been sent out to all teachers.
Candidates for the junior scholarships will be examined in
the subjects specified for Standard IV. in the Native Schools
Code, 1893. The questions will, however, be more difficult
than those set for the standard examinations. The exami-
nation will be held at convenient centres on the 21st and
22nd December, 1896.
Candidates must, either directly or through their teachers,
send notice to the Inspector of Native Schools, Education
Department, Wellington, of their intention to present them-
selves for examination. Such notice must be posted not
later than the 31st October next.
Copies of the regulations and forms of notice may be
obtained from teachers of Native schools and boarding insti-
tutions, the Secretaries to Education Boards, or the Secre-
tary for Education.

IT is hereby notified that, the leases of the under-men-
tioned Crown lands having been forfeited by resolutions
of the Southland Land Board, the said lands have reverted
to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Acts, 1879,
1885, 1887, and 1892.

I, the undersigned, a Commissioner duly appointed by
virtue of the Ordinance No. 15, Session XI., of the
Legislative Council of New Zealand, to hear and decide
claims to land by persons claiming title thereto from,
through, or under the New Zealand Company, report that,
the claim of Vincent Bill Hewitt, of the Town of Blenheim,
in the Colony of New Zealand, as derivative purchaser,
having been referred to me, I hereby decide that the said
Vincent Bill Hewitt is entitled to a Crown grant in fee-simple
of all that parcel of land, containing 142 acres or there-
abouts, being Section No. 71, Omaka District, now known
as Block XI., Cloudy Bay Survey District, Marlborough
Provincial District, as from the 27th May, 1895.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned
small grazing-run will be open for lease on applica-
tion, at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch,
on and after Wednesday, the 2nd December, 1896, at the
annual rental noted below. In case of more than one appli-
cation for the run on the same day, priority of selection
will be decided by ballot on the following day, at 11 a.m.
