Sections 5 and 6, Block II., Omona.—Pastoral land of fair quality, good soil, papa formation; the timber with which the sections are covered is principally tawa, mixed with usual undergrowth. The Mangaehu River Road fronts the sections, and it is proposed to erect a bridge over the river where it joins the Mangaotuku Stream, about two miles and a half lower down. These sections are portion of the Gatton Special Settlement.

Section 4, Block XV., Upper Waitara.—Weighted with £18, which must be paid with application, for the cost of felling and grassing of 12 acres of bush land on this section. A rough section, part of the Tanner Special Settlement. Timber comprises rimu, rata, &c., with usual undergrowth; papa formation, well watered.

Section 7, Block X., Ngatimaru.—Weighted with £15, valuation for cost of felling and grassing 12 acres. The Akama Road is formed for dray traffic to the section. The timber comprises rimu, rata, &c., with usual undergrowth; formation papa, well watered; fair pastoral land.

Section 10, Block V., Ngatimaru.—Fair pastoral land on Waitara River. Portion of the Oxford Special Settlement. There are about 30 acres of flat; all forest of the usual description; papa formation, well watered.

Section 21, Block IX., Mimi.—Broken country. Altitude, 50ft. to 1,000ft. About nine miles from Tongaporutu, with frontage to river of that name. All forest; well watered; pastoral land; mixed bush, some birch on spurs; about 40 acres level.

Section 22, Block IX., Mimi.—Similar to the preceding section. About 10 acres of level land.

Rural Lands in the Canterbury Land District open for Sale or Selection.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the ninth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any lands containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

SURVEYED FIRST-CLASS LAND.

These sections are situated on the north-west side of the main line of railway, near the crossing of the Great South Road, about three miles south-west of Dunsandel, and two miles and a quarter north-east of Bankside. They comprise level, open land, the soil being light and stony in places. The sections are weighted with valuations for improvements as follows: On Lot 1, £16 10s., being value of boundary-fencing and hut; on Lot 3, £20 10s., being value of boundary-fencing and dwelling-house; on Lot 4, £10 15s., being value of boundary-fencing. These sums must be paid on allotment, in addition to the usual deposit and fees.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-fourth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

Trustee for Skipper’s Point Cemetery appointed.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

ROBERT STEVENSON

to be a Trustee, in the place of William Henry Meddleton, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Skipper’s Point Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons appointed by warrants under the hand of His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.
