NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT WATER-RACE.

Tuapeka, 24th August, 1896.

To the Warden at Lawrence.

WE hereby give notice that we intend to construct a water-race to divert and use water for mining purposes, commencing at a point in Block V., Tuapeka East (German Creek), about 1 chain below quarry, and lifting six heads of water therefrom; from thence to Bow Bell Creek, lifting six heads of water; from thence to Scrubby Creek, in Block VI., lifting four heads of water; and from thence to Falls Creek, lifting eight heads of water, and terminating at Long Point, German Flat Mining Reserve.

The length of such race is three miles and a half or thereabouts, and its intended course is east, through Mr. George Matheson’s private property.

The mean depth of such race is 2ft., and the mean breadth 2ft. 6in., and it is proposed to divert twenty-four Government heads of water.

Cost of construction: £400.

Time required for construction: Four months.

NOTICE is hereby given that the schedule showing plan of distribution of the assets of the said company, as approved by the Court, is now open in my office for inspection by the contributors to and creditors of the company.

And that the claims mentioned in the schedule will, after the lapse of twenty-one days from the publication of this notice, be paid at the said office.

NOTICE is hereby given that we, the undersigned, JAMES ALEXANDER POND, JOHN RUSSELL GRAY, and ROBERT COMER, were, by power of attorney under the common seal of the above-named company, dated at London, the 13th day of May, 1896, appointed to be the attorneys of the company in New Zealand; that certified copies of such power of attorney, and of the certificate of incorporation of the said company, have been filed with the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Auckland; that the office or place of business of the company in New Zealand is at Government Insurance Buildings, Queen Street, Auckland, and the Secretary of the Company for New Zealand is EDWARD JAMES WHITE, whose place of business is at Government Insurance Buildings, Queen Street, aforesaid.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT WATER-RACE.

FOURTH SCHEDULE.—“MINING ACT, 1891”—428—96.—SECTION 105, SUBSECTION (5).

Orwell Creek, Westland, 10th August, 1896.

To the Warden at Ahaura, and to all others whom it may concern.

WE hereby give notice that we intend to construct water-race No. 8824 through, under, and over private land, to divert and use water for mining purposes, commencing at a point at a peg marked B at the southern side of Orwell Creek, about 17 chains easterly from the confluence of said Orwell Creek with Blackwater Creek, and westerly from the outlet-end of the tail-race held under certificate No. 600 B 13, dated 13th October, 1876; thence under, and through, and over freehold section numbered 2, Block 11, Ahaura Survey District, owned by Mr. Phillip Duggan, in a southerly course for a distance of 10 chains, be the same more or less, to the northern boundary of a road reserve; thence intersecting said road reserve to the northern boundary of freehold Section No. 246, Block 11, Ahaura Survey District, owned by Edward Birnie Garven, Esq.; thence in a south-westerly course, and intersecting said Section No. 246, for a distance of 12 chains, be the same more or less, and terminating at and connecting with said water-race No. 8824, at a point thereof at a peg marked B at Blackwater Creek.

The length of such race is 30 chains or thereabouts, and its intended course is southerly and westerly. It is proposed to construct a tunnel about 3 chains in length at the source of said water-race No. 8824, and to flume same if found necessary over said section numbered 2. It is also intended to occupy 10ft. in width of land on each side of said race, along the entire length thereof, for the security of said race No. 8824, within the Warden’s jurisdiction to grant.

The mean depth of such race is 4ft., and the mean breadth is 3ft.

Cost of construction: £150.

Time required for construction: Ten months.

Number and date of miner’s right: William Passene, No. 6463—7th October, 1895; Peter Passene, No. 6462—7th October, 1895—Applicants. (By J. W. Jones, agent.)

Any person objecting to the granting of this application must lodge his objection in writing at the Warden’s Office at Ahaura within fourteen clear days from the date hereof.
