Land temporarily reserved in the Land Districts of Auckland and Canterbury.

GLASGOW, Governor.

WHEREAS by the two hundred and thirty-fifth section of "The Land Act, 1892," it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned;

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Land Districts of Auckland and Canterbury described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule specified at the end of the description of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND.

All that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District being Section No. 12 of the Suburbs of Opotiki, and containing by admeasurement 11 acres and 28 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the north-east by a road, 100 links wide, along the banks of a stream; towards the east by Section No. 11 of the Suburbs of Opotiki, 1755 links; towards the south by a public road, 729 links; and towards the west by a public road, 100 links wide, running along the bank of the Waioeka River, to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. For acclimatisation purposes.

CANTERBURY.

All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 10 acres, more or less, being Section No. 3093 (in red), situate in the Rabbit Island Settlement, and being part of Reserve 959 (in red). Bounded towards the north-eastward by the road reserved along the Halswell River; towards the north-westward by Section No. 10, a road-line, and Section No. 9 of the said settlement, 1851·7 links; towards the south-westward by a line, distant 501·1 links, and parallel to the road forming the northern boundary of said Section No. 9; towards the south-eastward by a line, distant 400·9 links, and parallel to said Section No. 9, south of the road-line, and by a line parallel to Section No. 10, north of the road-line, drawn to contain the required quantity: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. For a site for a dairy factory.

All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 1 rood 8 perches, more or less, being Section No. 3095 (in red), formerly part of Reserve 1496 (in red), Blocks IX. and XIII., Ashburton Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Reserve 2682 (in red), 225 links; towards the south-east by a railway reserve; towards the north-west by a road-line, 2142·2 links : save and except a road, 100 links wide, which intersects the area hereby described: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Christchurch. For a ballast-pit.

Reserving Land for the Purposes of the Greymouth-Point Elizabeth Railway and Coal Company (Limited) under "The Coal-mines Act Amendment Act, 1895."

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by "The Coal-mines Act Amendment Act, 1895," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do by this notice in the Gazette hereby reserve the Crown lands described in the Schedule hereto, to be used by the Greymouth-Point Elizabeth Railway and Coal Company (Limited) for sites for bins, coke-ovens, staiths, storage for refuse, mine machinery, and other necessary buildings, sidings, spoil-banks, and tram-lines, to connect the outlying parts of the coal-mining lease held by the said company with its central railway and loading-station at Camp Creek, which is connected at Grey-mouth with the railway constructed between Greymouth and Brunner by the Minister for Public Works.

And in further exercise of the powers and authorities aforesaid I do hereby notify and declare that this reservation shall take effect during the currency of the coal-mining lease dated the tenth of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, for the period of sixty-six years from that date, which lease is at present held by the aforesaid company.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 386 acres, more or less, situated in Block III., Cobden Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by the Greymouth-Point Elizabeth Railway and Coal Company's lease (Coal Reserve); towards the south by Sections Nos. 23, 21, and 19, and a road, and Section No. 8; and towards the west by Sections Nos. 8, 7, and 6, a line across a road, by Sections Nos. 5 and 4, and the production in a northerly direction of the eastern boundary-line of the last-mentioned section to the Coal Reserve aforesaid: exclusive of the road running along the south bank of Coal Creek.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eighteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

Trustee for the Lumsden Cemetery appointed.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of "The Cemeteries Act, 1882," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint ROBERT BROWN to be a Trustee, in the place of Thomas McMath, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Lumsden Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons appointed by warrant under the hand of His Excellency the Governor on the twentieth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

to be Trustees to provide for the maintenance and care of the Macrae's Cemetery, in conjunction with John Bell and William Edwin Griffen, who have been previously appointed by warrants under the hand of His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.
