APPLICATION TO CONSTRUCT A MAIN TAIL-RACE.

REGULATION No. 101, “THE MINING ACT, 1891.”

Westland, 3rd August, 1896.

To the Warden at Kumara.

WE, the undersigned, being a majority in number of persons from whose claims water and tailings will flow to a common outlet at the Teremakau River, hereby make application for a main tail-race, commencing at a point marked C4 on the Long Tunnel Company’s Special Claim No. 225, situate on Shamrock Lead, thence passing through Flanagan’s residence-site, and under the Dillman’s road, Turnbull and party’s extended claim, Quinn and party’s extended claim, and Cullen and party’s extended claim, at a depth below the surface of from 80ft. to 100ft., and terminating at a peg marked C4 on the south bank of the Teremakau River, about 2 chains below Payne and party’s old tail-race; the course, as herein described, being more particularly delineated on the surveyor’s plan lodged in the Warden’s Court with this application.

The main tail-race herein applied for is constructed by means of a substantial tunnel tail-race.

And we declare the following particulars to be true in every respect:—
The length of such race is 2,729ft., the average depth is 7ft., the average width is 6ft.

The applicants request the Warden to allow them to occupy 7ft. on each side of the race throughout its entire length, for the preservation thereof.

The cost of construction of the main tail-race is £2,199.

The signatures, numbers, and dates of miners’ rights of applicants are set forth on the paper marked A, annexed to the copy of this application in Court.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership lately subsisting between us, the undersigned HENRY THOMAS BATSON and WILLIAM PETERS, carrying on business as Bootmakers at Spey Street, Invercargill, under the style or firm of “Batson and Peters,” was, on the 1st day of August, 1896, dissolved by mutual consent.

The said business will be carried on in the same premises by the said William Peters, to whom all moneys owing to the said firm are payable, and who will pay all the liabilities of the said firm.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore existing between ISABELLA BARTHOLOMEW, GEORGE BARTHOLOMEW, JOHN BARTHOLOMEW, and WILLIAM GEORGE HAYBITTLE, trading together as Sawmillers, at Feilding, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and elsewhere, under the style or the firm of “Bartholomew Brothers” has, so far as regards the said William George Haybittle, this day been dissolved by mutual consent. All debts due to or owing by the said late firm will be received and paid by the said Isabella Bartholomew, George Bartholomew, and John Bartholomew, who will continue to carry on the business as hitherto.

I, FREDERICK GEORGE MORGAN, Registrar of the Supreme Court for the District of Southland, do hereby notify that an affidavit, a copy of which is hereunder given, by WILLIAM ALFRED ROWE, Secretary of the Waianiwā Dairy Factory Company (Limited), has been lodged in the Stipendiary Magistrate’s Court at Invercargill, and forwarded to me; and that, unless notice of objection be lodged with me within sixty days of this date, I shall proceed to declare the said company to be dissolved in manner provided by “The Companies Act, 1882.”

I, WILLIAM ALFRED ROWE, of Waianiwā, in the County of Southland and Colony of New Zealand, Secretary of the Waianiwā Dairy Factory Company (Limited), incorporated under “The Companies Act, 1882,” do hereby make oath and say,—

  1. That the nominal capital of the said company is £2,000, in 400 shares of £5 each.

  2. That the shares have been fully paid up.

  3. That the company has no assets, and has ceased to carry on its operations.
