THE following special orders, made by the Parihaka Road Board, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

COPY OF SPECIAL ORDER MAKING SPECIAL RATE AS SECURITY ON LOAN OF £600 FOR OPUA ROAD.
THAT, to secure the repayment of a loan of £600 raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming and metalling the Opua Road for a distance of two miles from the Main South Road, a special rate of 2½d. in the pound be made and levied over the following lands: viz., Sections 55, 54, 53, 7, 5, 3, and 1, all of Block IX., Opunake Survey District; and Sections 4, 5, 6, and 7, Native Reserve, Block IX., Opunake Survey District; constituting the Opua Special Rating District. Such rate to be an annually-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and shall be payable in one instalment on the 1st February in each year.
I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made at an ordinary meeting of the Parihaka Road Board, held on Monday, 16th December, 1895, and confirmed at an ordinary meeting held on Monday, 20th January, 1896, in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made at an ordinary meeting of the Parihaka Road Board, held on Monday, 20th January, 1896, and confirmed at an adjourned ordinary meeting held on Monday, 24th February, 1896, in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

THE following notices, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Alexandra, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

BOROUGH OF ALEXANDRA.
Proposal to raise a Loan of £2,150.
Notice is hereby given that the result of the poll taken on the 2nd day of July, 1896, on the proposal to borrow £2,150 under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” for the following purpose—to construct waterworks for the Borough of Alexandra—was as follows:—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 79; number of votes exercisable, 90: Number of burgesses who voted for the proposal, 40; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 51; number of burgesses who voted against the proposal, 10; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 10; informal votes, 2.
A sufficient number of burgesses, entitled to more than one-half in number of the votes exercisable, being recorded in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

I, James Rivers, of the Borough of Alexandra South, in the Provincial District of Otago, Mayor of the said borough, do solemnly declare that all proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses of the said borough to the proposal to raise a loan of £2,150 for the said borough have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of such proposal has been duly carried.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
