Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the Purposes of a Road in Waimate County.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto forms part of land taken for the purposes of the Hurunui-Waikato Railway (Waimate Branch), and it is considered desirable to allocate such land to the purposes of a road:

And whereas it has been certified by the Minister for Railways that such land is not required for railway purposes: And whereas such land is situated in Waimate County, the local authority of which has consented to the issue of this Proclamation:

And whereas His Excellency the Governor is of opinion that the said local authority can conveniently construct and maintain the said road:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section one hundred and seventy-seven of "The Public Works Act, 1894," and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, become a road, and that the said road shall be under the control of the Waimate County Council, and shall be maintained by the said Council in like manner as other public highways are controlled and maintained by the said Council.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, in the Waimate Survey District, containing 1 acre 2 roods 12 perches, more or less, situate at Studholme Junction, being a strip of railway land 100 links wide, part of Rural Section 9664, in Block XVI., in said survey district. Bounded on the south by the southern boundary of said Rural Section 9664, a distance of 1536 links; on the west by the western boundary of said Rural Section 9664; on the north by a line parallel to and 100 links distant from the southern boundary of said Rural Section 9664; and on the south-east by the south-eastern boundary of said Rural Section 9664: as the said parcel of land is more particularly delineated on the plan marked 6900, deposited in the office of the Minister for Railways, at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this first day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

Land taken for a Gravel-pit in the Newcastle Survey District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under "The Public Works Act, 1894," for a certain work, to wit, for a gravel-pit in Section 101, Parish of Horotiu:

And whereas the Waipa County Council has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map; and also the statutory declaration, required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by "The Public Works Act, 1894," and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a gravel-pit.

ERRATUM.-In Schedule to Warrant notifying lands in Marlborough for sale by public auction, published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 43, of the 4th June, 1896, page 878, for Section 1, Block IX., read Section 3, Block IX.
