Land declared to be Crown Land subject to "The Land for Settlements Act, 1894."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been acquired under the provisions of "The Land for Settlements Act, 1894" (hereinafter termed "the said Act"), and the purchase thereof has been concluded as by the said Act is provided: And whereas it is enacted by the said Act that all land so acquired shall be proclaimed as Crown land subject to the provisions of the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, on the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, be and be deemed to be Crown land subject to the provisions of "The Land for Settlements Act, 1894."
SCHEDULE.
HIGHBANK SETTLEMENT.
All that area in the Canterbury Land District, contain- ing by admeasurement 9,119 acres 3 roods 2 perches, more or less, situated in Blocks IV. and VIII., Corwar Survey District, and Blocks I. and II., Spaxton Survey District, and bounded towards the north-east generally by a road forming the south-west boundary of Section No. 26952, by part of Section No. 7244 (owned by W. W. Henderson), by Section No. 26584, a road - reserve, and again by Section No. 26584, by Run N22, a road- line, and again by Run N22, by Section No. 30787, a road-reserve, and again by Section No. 30787; towards the south-east by Section No. 34128, a road-line, Sections Nos. 34126, 16657, and 34127; towards the south-west by a road- line forming the north-east boundary of Section No. 26634 and of Section No. 26905; and towards the north-west generally by a road-line forming the eastern boundary of Sections Nos. 26756, 26753, 20680, 26754, 20683, and 26549: excepting from the above-described area such public roads and water-race reserves as may traverse the said area: as the same is delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 19177, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twelfth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

ELSTHORPE SETTLEMENT.
All that parcel of land in the Hawke's Bay Land District, situated in Oero Survey District, containing by admeasure-
ment 10,073 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north by Block 44, 7450 links; towards the east by the Waimarama, Te Apiti No. 2, Kairakau, and Kairakau No. 1 Native blocks, 46678·4 links; towards the south-east by portions of Blocks Nos. 1A, 102, and 80, Mangakuri Crown- grant District, 16737·4 links; towards the south-west by portions of Blocks Nos. 80, 103, 78, 1, and 79, Mangakuri Crown-grant District, 24657·8 links, and the Makara Stream; and towards the west by parts of Blocks Nos. 90, 91, 92, 47, and 44, Oero Crown-grant District, 49237·5 links: excepting and reserving Block 27A, Native Reserve (Rangatira Mata), and the main road through the same: as the above-described area is delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 18883, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

All that area in the Marlborough Land District, containing by admeasurement 3,898 acres, more or less, situated in Block VI., Avon Survey District, and Block I., Taylor Pass Survey District, and bounded towards the north-west by the Omaka River; towards the north-east by parts of Sections Nos. 4 of Block I., 118, 117, and 2 of Block I., 109, 102, a road, and 104; towards the east by a public road; and towards the south generally by a public road, by Section No. 112, parts of Sections Nos. 188, 127, 126, 130, 186, 129, and 7 of said Block VI., by Section No. 11, Block VI., and by Sec- tions Nos. 7 and 6 of Block VI.: excluding from the above- described area such portions of the Brookby Road, 75 links wide, and of Tyntesfield Road, 100 links wide, as traverse the said area, and also such part of the Fairhall River as crosses the said area: as the above-described area is deline- ated upon the plan marked S.G. 19155, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.
