Railway Reserve No. 272, Hokitika South.—Provisions of
"The Mining Act, 1891," relating to Mining Districts and
Wardens' Courts brought into Operation.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by
section 200 of "The Mining Act, 1891" (hereinafter
termed "the said Act"), and of all other powers enabling
me in this behalf, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that all the pro-
visions of the said Act and the amendments thereto relating
to mining districts and to Wardens' Courts shall have opera-
tion within the public reserve described in the Schedule
hereto.

SCHEDULE.

THIRTY acres, more or less, situate in Township Reserve
No. 272 (in red), Hokitika South, and commencing at a point
on the southern boundary of said township about 16 chains
eastward of the intersection of Mahinapua Creek with the
said boundary; and from thence in a northern and easterly
direction to the Hokitika River, a distance of 103 chains,
about, and being of a width of 3 chains. (Reserved for a
road or railway in Gazette No. 44, of 20th July, 1868, page
365.)

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies;
and issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington, this
tenth day of January, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

Time for taking Census.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS under the provisions of "The Census Act,
1877," as amended by "The Census Act Amend-
ment Act, 1890," a Proclamation was made and published
in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-eighth day of
November last, declaring that the account required to be
taken by the said Acts should be so taken on Monday, the
sixth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-
six, and for the night of Sunday, the fifth day of the said
month: And whereas it has been found inconvenient to
take the said account as before provided, the fifth day of
April being Easter Sunday, and it is expedient that the
same should be taken as hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of
the authority in me vested by the said Acts, and of every
other power and authority enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby revoke the Proclamation so made and published as
aforesaid, and do hereby proclaim and declare that the
account required to be taken of the number and condition of
persons within New Zealand and the other particulars re-
lating thereto under or by virtue of the aforesaid Acts shall
be taken in the month of April, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-six, on Monday, the thirteenth day of the said
month, and for the night of Sunday, the twelfth day of the
said month.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies;
and issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at Christchurch, this thirteenth day of January,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hun-
dred and ninety-six.
