Declaring a State Forest in the Land District of Wellington.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The New Zealand State Forests Act, 1885,” and of every other power and authority enabling me in that behalf, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby set apart the forest land described in the Schedule hereto, forming part of the Crown lands in New Zealand, as and for a State forest within the provisions of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.

All that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,941 acres 1 rood 21 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 100, 101, 105, Block V., and Section No. 102, Block II., Wairarapa Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by forest reserve and a road; towards the east by Section No. 106; towards the south generally by Sections Nos. 104 and 103; and towards the west by a road, and Section No. 99: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six.

Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the Purposes of a Road in Levels County.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto forms part of land taken for the purposes of the Lyttelton-Bluff Railway, and it is considered desirable to allocate such land to the purposes of a road:

And whereas it has been certified by the Minister for Railways that such land is not required for railway purposes: And whereas such land is situated in Levels County, the local authority of which has consented to the issue of this Proclamation:

And whereas His Excellency the Governor is of opinion that the said local authority can conveniently construct and maintain the said road:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by section one hundred and seventy-seven of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, upon the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, become a road, and that the said road shall be under the control of the Levels County Council, and shall be maintained by the said Council in like manner as other public highways are controlled and maintained by the said Council.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District, in the Arowhenua Survey District, containing 3 roods 38·9 perches, more or less, situated at Arowhenua, on the Lyttelton-Bluff Railway, being parts of Rural Sections Nos. 4225, 6003, and 16582, and being bounded as follows: Starting from the south-western corner of Rural Section No. 4225; thence westerly along the southern boundary of Rural Section No. 16582, a distance of 110·5 links; thence north-easterly by a straight line, a distance of 768 links, to a point on the eastern boundary of Rural Section No. 6003 distant 253·4 links from the north-eastern corner of that section; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of Rural Section No. 6003, a distance of 253·4 links; thence easterly by a line bearing 96° 7′, a distance of 130 links; and thence south-westerly by a straight line, a distance of 978·2 links, to the starting-point, the south-western corner of Rural Section No. 4225: as the said parcel of land is more particularly delineated upon the plan marked 6819, deposited in the office of the Minister for Railways, at Wellington, and thereon coloured purple.
