Appointment of Officer to District Reserve Corps.

(late Lieutenant, Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry Volunteers) to the Canterbury District Reserve Corps, as Lieutenant. Commission to date from the 1st day of March, 1895.

Special Orders made by the Waimate Road Board, County of Hawera.

THE following special orders, made by the Waimate Road Board, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

WAIMATE ROAD BOARD.—SPECIAL ORDERS.

THAT, to secure repayment of a loan of £400, and interest thereon, raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, for the purpose of draining, forming, and metalling the Watino Road from the Eltham Road to a point 1 chain below the railway reserve, a special annual recurring rate of 1½d. in the pound, for a period of twenty-six (26) years, be made and levied over the Watino Road Special Rating Area, comprising the following sections, viz.: 76, 77, 78, 79, and 81, Block XI.; and 13, 15, 16, Block XIV.; all in the Opunake Survey District. Such rate to be payable, if required, in one instalment on the 1st day of January in each year of the aforesaid period.

That, to secure repayment of a loan of £850, and interest thereon, raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, for the purpose of forming and metalling the Oeo Road, from the Eltham Road to a point at the southern boundary of Section 11, Block XIII., Kaupokonui Survey District, a special annual recurring rate of 1½d. in the pound, for a period of twenty-six (26) years, be made and levied over the Oeo Road Special Rating Area, comprising the following sections, viz.: 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12, Block XIII.; and the southern portion (27 acres) of Section 25, the southern portion (25 acres) of Section 26, the eastern portion (66 acres) of Section 30, and the western portion (40 acres) of Section 31, Block IX.; all in the Kaupokonui Survey District. Such rate to be payable, if required, in one instalment on the 1st day of January in each year of the aforesaid period.

I hereby certify that the above two special orders were duly made in accordance with “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

Result of Polls for Proposed Loans, Pohangina County Council.

POHANGINA COUNTY COUNCIL.

FOLLOWING is the result of poll of ratepayers of the Coal Creek Riding on proposal to borrow £4,900 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for construction of roads within the Coal Creek Riding of the above county:—

Ratepayers on roll, 36, representing 54 votes: Number of ratepayers voting, 27; number of votes recorded for proposal, 41; number of votes recorded against proposal, 1.

As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I declare the proposal to be carried.

Following is the result of poll of ratepayers of Mangapikopiko Riding, on proposal to borrow £929, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for construction of 220 chains of Upper Cross Road, within the Mangapikopiko Riding of the above county:—

Ratepayers on roll, 8, representing 10 votes: Number of ratepayers voting, 7; number of votes recorded for proposal, 9.

As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I declare the proposal to be carried.

PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.

RESULT of poll taken at Mr. Donald’s house, Opua Road, on Friday, 6th December, re proposal to raise a loan of £600, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming and metalling the Opua Road for a distance of two miles from the Main South Road:—

Number on special roll, 5, representing 5 votes; number in favour of proposal, 4; number against proposal, 0.

I therefore declare the above proposal carried.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 18th December, 1895, at the residence of Henry Hammond, Esq., Waitahi, on the proposal to borrow £650 for metalling Lowe’s Road and the unmetalled portion of Hammond’s Road:—

Number of ratepayers on roll, 64; number of rates exercisable, 117: Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 38; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 76; number of votes recorded against the proposal, nil; informal vote, 1.

As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half of the votes that can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I hereby declare the proposal carried.
