No. 8260.—3rd February, 1896.—JAMES ALEXANDER WALKER, of Kuaotunu, Auckland, New Zealand, Battery-manager. An invention for actuating slide-valves by means of holes through piston-rods, to be named "The Improved Piston-rod Slide-valve Actuator."

No. 8262.—6th February, 1896.—EDWIN ROBERT STANDFIELD, Medical Electrician, and FREDERICK BIGGS, Chemist, both of 71, Cathedral Square, Christchurch, New Zealand. An invention for an improved detergent soap.

No. 8265.—11th February, 1896.—MAURICE THOMAS McGRATH, of Wellington, New Zealand, Contractor. An invention for improvements in clothing for cycling and other riding.

No. 8270.—12th February, 1896.—WILLIAM JOHN McMANUS, of Picton, New Zealand, Fireman. An invention for working the figures on a steam riding-gallery.

No. 8283.—19th February, 1896.—JOHN GEORGE ABRAHAMS CASTLE, of Sydney Street, Petone, Wellington, New Zealand, Meat-preserver. An invention for an improved machine for soldering the tops and bottoms to the bodies of cans, canisters, and general tinware.
