Cancelling Proclamation taking Land for a Road in the
Borough of Melrose.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the twenty-second section of "The
Public Works Act, 1894," it is among other things
enacted that, in any case where a Proclamation has been
issued taking lands for any public work, and where, before
such Proclamation has been registered by the District Land
Registrar as by the said Act provided, it is found that such
Proclamation incorrectly describes the land purporting to be
taken, the Governor may by a subsequent Proclamation
cancel and annul such first-mentioned Proclamation, or any
part thereof: And whereas the lands mentioned in the
Schedule to a Proclamation made under the said Act, dated
the fourteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-five, taking lands for a road in the Borough of
Melrose, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the
twenty-second day of August, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-five, are incorrectly described, and such Pro-
clamation has not been registered by the District Land
Registrar as provided by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers
and authorities vested in me by "The Public Works Act,
1894," do by this Proclamation hereby cancel and annul the
said Proclamation dated the fourteenth day of August, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, and published in
the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-second day of August,
one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, taking lands for
a road in the Borough of Melrose.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and St. George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies;
and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirtieth day of November, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-
five.

Land taken for a Road in the Estuary of the Heathcote and
Avon Rivers.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by
section thirteen of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David,
Earl of Glasgow, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
with the consent of the Lyttelton Harbour Board, being the
local authority in whom that portion of the said estuary
hereinafter described is vested, do by this notice hereby
proclaim as taken for a road,--

All that area in the Canterbury Land District, situate in
Block II., Sumner Survey District, containing by admeasure-
ment 2 roods 39 perches, more or less, being a strip of the
estuary of the Heathcote and Avon Rivers, 100 links wide,
lying to the north-west of Section No. 309, and connecting
the two banks of a small arm of the said estuary: as the
same is delineated upon a plan marked S.G. 27772, deposited
in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey,
at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
coloured red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies;
and issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirtieth day of November, in the year of our

Additional Land taken in the Parish of Whangamarino for
the Purposes of the Kaipara-Waikato Railway.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it has been found desirable for the use,
convenience, and enjoyment of the Kaipara-Waikato
Railway, to take further land in the Parish of Whangamarino,
in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of
the said railway:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and
authorities conferred on me by sections twenty-eight and
one hundred and sixty-seven of "The Public Works Act,
1894," and of every other power and authority in anywise
enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is taken for
the purposes above mentioned.

Defining the Middle Line of a Further Portion of the Otago
Central Railway (Kyeburn-Eweburn Section).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Otago Central Railway (hereinafter
termed "the said railway") is a railway the con-
struction of which is authorised by "The Public Works Act,
1879": And whereas the said railway has been partly con-
structed, and it has been determined to construct and
maintain a further portion of the same:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of
the powers and authorities conferred by "The Public Works
Act, 1879," and "The Public Works Act, 1894," and in
exercise of every other power and authority in any wise
enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the middle line of the said further portion of the said
railway shall be that defined and set forth in the Schedule
hereto.

SCHEDULE.

Commencing at a point in the railway reserve in Block XVI.,
Maniototo Survey District, distant about 5 chains in a north-
westerly direction from the north-eastern corner of Sec-
tion 16, the said point being the termination of a portion of
the railway as described in a Proclamation dated the 10th
day of November, 1893, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette, No. 88, of the 17th November, 1893; proceeding
thence generally in a north-westerly direction for a distance
of 10 miles, and passing in, into, through, or over the fol-
lowing lands—viz., Railway reserve, and Subdivision 6 of
Section 3 (Pre-emptive Right C), Block XVI.; railway and
flood-water reserve, Block XV.; railway reserve in Blocks
XI., X., XVII., and VI.—and terminating at a point in the
said railway reserve, Block VI., distant about 65 chains in a
north-westerly direction from the north-eastern corner of
Section 15 (G.R.), Block VI., including all adjoining and
intervening places, lands, reserves, roads, streams, rivers,
and watercourses: all in the Maniototo Survey District, in
the Provincial District of Otago; as the same is delineated
on the plan marked P.W.D. 17538, a copy of which has been
deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court
at Dunedin, in the said Provincial District of Otago.
