land, Bookbinders. An invention for perpetual or yearly
calendar.

of corner of King Street and Great North Road, Arch Hill,
Auckland, New Zealand, Matron. An invention for the
cure of rheumatism, neuralgia, sciatica, lumbago, and rheu-
matic gout, to be called "The Great Remedy Nyanza."

house, of Mokopeka, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, Electrical
Engineer. An invention for an improvement or improve-
ments in lampwicks.

kopeka, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, Sheep-farmer. An
invention for improvements in the manufacture of electrical
hot plates and other electrical apparatus for cooking and

their contents made known by this office in any way, until
the complete specifications in connection therewith have
been accepted.

Request to amend Specification dealt with.
THE request to amend the under-mentioned application
(particulars of which were advertised in the Supple-
ment to the New Zealand Gazette No. 48, of 27th June, 1895)
has been dealt with as noted hereunder.
No. 6914.—20th June, 1894.—Edgar Arthur Ashcroft, of
Broken Hill, New South Wales, Electrical Engineer. An
invention for an improved process of treating refractory ores,
and apparatus to be used therein.
The following amendments have been allowed: Nos. 2, 3,
4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25,
27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45,
46, 47, 48, 49, 50, and 51.
No. 9 has been allowed, with the exception of the words
"It has been found experimentally that."
No. 34 has been allowed, with the exception of the deletion
of the words from and including the word "Stout" to and
including the words "again and again," line 12, page 10.
The words "sheets of zinc, &c.," are now inserted after the
afore-mentioned words "again and again."
No. 54 has been allowed, with the following exceptions:
Claims Nos. 6 and 7 have been retained, and numbered 3 and
4 respectively, and have been further amended as noted
below.
No. 55 has been allowed, with the following exception:
The third claim in the proposed amendments has been
struck out, and the first claim altered as hereafter noted.
The following have been disallowed: Nos. 1, 21, 26, 32, 52,
53, and 56.
No. 22 has been disallowed, with the exception of the
words "The material employed in the vats illustrated in the
drawings herewith is filter-cloth," which words have been
allowed.
Further amendments have been allowed as follows:—
Prefixing the letters or word, &c., "hydr-" to the word
"oxide," line 2, page 6.
Inserting the words, &c., "(thereby converting the ferric
hydroxide to oxide)" between the words "blocks" and
"bricks," line 11, page 6.
Inserting the words "Those vats with iron anodes may,"
in place of line 11, page 7.
Inserting the words "vat or" between the words "the"
and "cell," line 27, page 7.
Inserting the words "vat or" between the words "third"
and "cell," lines 11, 14, and 24, page 8.
