Vesting a Reserve in the Waipa County Council.

GLASGOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day
of November, 1895.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
was permanently reserved as a gravel reserve on the
eighteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-five:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient
to vest the said land in the Waipa County Council:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in
exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the
fourth section of "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," doth
hereby declare that from and after the day of the date hereof
the reserve mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become
vested in "The Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of
the Waipa County," in trust, as a gravel reserve.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
being Allotments Nos. 514 and 515 of the Town of Cam-
bride West, containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or
less. Bounded towards the north-east by Allotments Nos.
516 and 517 of the Town of Cambridge West, 1000 links;
towards the south-east by Southey Street, 200 links; towards
the south-west by Allotments Nos. 513 and 512 of the Town
of Cambridge West, 1000 links; and towards the north-west
by Shelley Street, 200 links, to the point of commencement:
be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Vesting a Reserve in the Patea County Council.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day
of November, 1895.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
was permanently reserved for a roadman's hut on
the fourteenth day of September, one thousand eight hun-
dred and ninety-three:
And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expe-
dient that the said land should be vested in the Patea
County Council:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise
of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth
section of "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," doth hereby
declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the
reserve mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested
in "The Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the Patea
County," in trust, for public buildings.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District,
containing by admeasurement 12 acres, more or less, being
Reserve No. 10, Block II., Omahine Survey District.
Bounded on the north-east by Section No. 6; on the east by
a public road; on the south-west by Crown land reserved
round the Mangawhio Lake; and on the west by Section
No. 6: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in
the District Survey Office, Wellington.

"The Education Act, 1877."β€”Class-books for Public Schools.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day
of November, 1895.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in him by "The Education Act, 1877," the Go-
vernor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Coun-
cil of the colony, doth make the regulation hereto annexed
approving of class-books for public schools; and, with the
like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this Order shall
come into force on the date of the first publication thereof
in the New Zealand Gazette.

REGULATION.
"The New Zealand Reader" (Government Printer) and the
"Ship" Literary Readers (Longmans'), Books 4, 5, and 6,
may be used in any public school as if they had been de-
scribed and included in the list of works set forth in the
Order in Council prescribing class-books for public schools,
dated the 26th May, 1892.

Regulations determining the Rate of Interest payable on Cash
deposited under "The Foreign Insurance Companies' De-
posits Act, 1894."

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in him by section three of "The Foreign Insur-
ance Companies' Deposits Amendment Act, 1895," His
Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by
and with the consent and advice of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby determine, That all cash
deposited with the Public Trustee, under "The Foreign In-
surance Companies' Deposits Act, 1894," on and after the
first day of December, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-five, shall bear interest at the rate of three pounds
per centum per annum.

Measuring Distance of Free Delivery of Telegrams.

GLASGOW, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day
of November, 1895.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council, dated the twenty-
fifth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-three, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of
the twenty-seventh day of April, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-three, certain regulations were made under the
provisions of "The Electric Lines Act, 1884," for the trans-
mission of telegrams by means of electric lines under the
said Act: And whereas it is expedient to revoke part of
such regulations and to make other provision in lieu thereof:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in pursuance
of all the powers in that behalf enabling him, doth hereby
revoke the regulation numbered twelve of the regulations
aforesaid regulating the delivery of telegrams by radius, and
in place thereof doth hereby make the regulation numbered
twelve in the Schedule hereto; and doth declare that this
Order in Council shall have effect on and from the first day
of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.

SCHEDULE.

  1. Except as notified in the printed list of telegraph-offices
    published from time to time in the "Post and Telegraph
    Guide," all telegrams shall be delivered free of charge within
    one mile by the nearest practicable road from the station to
    which they are transmitted by wire.
    For any distance not exceeding half a mile beyond s. d.
    the free delivery .. .. .. 0 6
    For any distance over half a mile, but not exceeding
    one mile, beyond the free delivery .. .. 1 0
    For any distance over one mile, but not exceeding
    two miles, beyond the free delivery .. .. 1 6
    The foregoing charges provide for ordinary delivery only.
    For messages to be delivered by special messenger the cost
    of such delivery shall be added and paid for. If required to
    be delivered beyond the distance of three miles, all moneys
    disbursed in payment of cab-fares, omnibus-fares, horse-hire,
    portage, or any other expenses incurred in delivery, shall
    be charged. All telegrams requiring to be delivered on ship-
    board on the water, or across the water, shall be subject to
    any expenses incurred to defray boat-hire. To prevent the
    non-delivery or detention of telegrams, when the sender of a
    telegram objects or refuses to pay the above charges, or any
    of them, the telegram will be posted immediately on its
    arrival at the station to which it is transmitted by wire.
