NELSON LAND DISTRICT.

Section 14, about half flat and gentle slopes, fair soil; birch and rimu timber. Section 15, nearly all flat, about half fair soil, remainder poor and stony; birch and rimu timber, supplejack and kiakia scrub. Section 6, one-half good level land, with bush consisting chiefly of rimu and matai, with rata and white-pine, remainder on spurs, poor soil, with birch and rimu bush and few manuka. Section 4, about two-thirds flat, remainder terraces and hills, fair soil; bush, chiefly matai and white-pine; birch and rimu on hills. Sections 14 and 15, Block VI., are about fourteen miles from Collingwood by the Aorere Valley Road. Section 4, Block X., about seventeen miles, and Section 6, Block IX., about nineteen miles, by the same road.

Section 9, Block VI., all hills, about half limestone formation, good soil, rather steep; birch, rimu, and pukatea bush: remainder fair soil; bush, birch and rimu. Section 10, Block VI., half fair soil, birch and rimu bush; remainder poor soil, chiefly birch bush. Section 9, Block XI., very poor terrace land, covered with manuka. Section 8, Block XV., all hill, poor soil; birch and manuka. Sections 9 and 10, Block VI., are about six miles from Takaka; Section 9, Block XI., about three miles from Upper Takaka Post-office; and Section 8, Block XV., about one mile and a half from the same place.

Sections 6 and 7 are about one mile south of Totaranui Inlet; and Section 1 is situated off Falls River, Sandfly Bay.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by "The Animals Protection Act, 1880," and the Acts amending the same, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that red deer stags and fallow deer bucks may be taken or killed within the Nelson District, comprising the Counties of Waimea, Buller, and Collingwood, from the sixteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, to the eighth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, both inclusive (subject, nevertheless, to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster at Nelson and the Postmaster at Westport are hereby appointed to issue the said licenses.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirtieth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.
