Rural Lands in the Canterbury Land District open for Sale or Selection.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth
section of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having
received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that
the rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-seventh
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule
may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on
lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any lands containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone,
be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied,
or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased
under and subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

These sections are situated in the South Rangitata Township, adjacent to and on each side of the main line of railway,
about a half-mile south-west of the South Rangitata Railway-station, and comprise open level plain land of light quality.

This section is situated on the eastern side of the Orari River, with frontage on Thew's and McMillan's Roads, the
distance from Geraldine being about eleven miles in a northerly direction, and from Rangitata Traffic Bridge about six
miles. It comprises open level land of fair quality. The section is weighted with £18, being the value of fencing, which
sum must be paid with application or immediately the result of the ballot is declared.

These sections are situated in the Cannington Village Settlement Block, adjacent to the Pareora River, at a distance
of about four miles in a south-westerly direction from the Cave Railway-station; they comprise land on both sides of the
Pareora River, that on the north bank being hilly grazing land, and that on the south bank consisting of open level land
of light quality.

SURVEYED SECOND-CLASS LAND.

This section is situated at the south-eastern extremity of the Waitohi Hills, distant about eight miles in a westerly
direction from Geraldine, and comprises hilly and broken pastoral country ranging up to an altitude of 2,274ft. above sea-
level, and carrying tussock and other native and English grasses, there being also a considerable quantity of fern and
scrub. The section is weighted with £279, being the value of improvements, consisting of boundary and subdivision
fencing, sheep-yards, and clearing and sowing grass; this sum must be paid at the time of application or immediately the
result of the ballot is declared.

This section is situated on the north side of Rocky Gully, at a distance of about six miles in a south-westerly direction
from Albury, and comprises steep, rocky, pastoral land,
NOTE.—This section has no independent means of access, and no liability is accepted by or on behalf of the Govern-
ment to provide access for the selector of the land.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-sixth day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-five.
