Appointment of Chairmen, Railway Boards of Appeal.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the following appointments:—

JAMES CROSBY MARTIN,

of Wellington, Stipendiary Magistrate, to act as a member of the North Island Railway Board of Appeal, and to be the Chairman of the said Board.

CHARLES DUDLEY ROBERT WARD,

District Judge, to act as a member of the Middle Island Railway Board of Appeal, and to be the Chairman of the said Board.

THE following special order, made by the Manawatu Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

MANAWATU ROAD BOARD.—SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT the existing four subdivisions of the Manawatu Road District be and are hereby abolished, and that the said district be and is hereby divided into seven wards or subdivisions, numbered respectively 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7; such wards or subdivisions to be as follows, and according to the boundaries set forth herein:—

No. 1 Subdivision, containing all the land in the following circuit: Starting at the Manawatu River at the eastern corner of Section 374; thence along the boundary of the Borough of Palmerston North to its junction with No. 1 Line; thence in a southerly direction along No. 1 Line to its extreme end, to where it touches the boundary of Middle Aorangi No. 1A; thence along the boundaries of Middle and Lower Aorangi to the Manawatu River; thence along the Manawatu River to the starting-point.

No. 2 Subdivision, containing all the land in the following circuit: Starting at the Manawatu River at the eastern corner of Lower Aorangi 3R (known as Te Wheki); thence along the eastern boundary of Lower and Middle Aorangi to its junction with the Taonui Stream; thence along the northern boundary of Middle Aorangi, Sections 5 and 7C, to the Oroua River; thence along the Oroua River to its junction with the Manawatu River; thence along the Manawatu River to the starting-point.

No. 3 Subdivision, containing all the land in the following circuit: Starting at the north-eastern corner of Section 422, at the junction of the Palmerston North Borough Boundary Road with the Rangitikei Line; thence along the Rangitikei Line to the north-western corner of Section 438; thence in a southerly direction along the western boundaries of Sections 438, 437, 1559, 1561, 1558, 1557, 1556, 1555, 1607, 1606, 1605, 1604, 1603, and 1602; thence along the south-western boundaries of Sections 1602, 1601, 1598, 1595, and 1596 to the junction of No. 1 Line; thence along No. 1 Line and Boundary Road to the starting-point.

No. 4 Subdivision, containing all the land in the following circuit: Starting at the north-eastern corner of Section 440, at its junction with the Rangitikei Line; thence along the Rangitikei Line to the Taonui Stream; thence along that stream in a southerly direction to the Palmerston-Awahuri Road; thence along the Palmerston-Awahuri Road to the Oroua River; thence along the Oroua River in a southerly direction to the south-western corner of Section 2; thence along the southern boundary of Sections 2 and 1; thence along the south-western boundaries of Sections 1614 and 1616; thence along the eastern boundaries of Sections 1616, 1615, 1612, 1610, 1608, 1554, 1547, 1544, 1543, 1540, 1539, 439, and 440 to the starting-point.

No. 5 Subdivision, containing all the land in the following circuit: Starting at the south-eastern corner of Section 539, at its junction with the Rangitikei Line; thence in a northerly direction, being the eastern boundaries of the following sections—539, 540, 597, 583, 1526, 585, 1519, and 565—to the railway-line; thence in a westerly direction along the railway-line to the Oroua River; thence in a southerly direction along the Oroua River to the Palmerston-Awahuri Road; thence along that road to the Taonui Stream; thence along the Taonui Stream to the Rangitikei Line; thence along the Rangitikei Line to the starting-point.

No. 6 Subdivision, containing all the land in the following circuit: Starting at the Rangitikei Line at the south-eastern corner of Section 557; thence along the eastern boundaries of Sections 557, 556, 527, and part of 1506, to the railway-line; thence along the railway-line to the north-eastern corner of Section 565; thence in a southerly direction to the Rangitikei Line, being the eastern boundary of No. 5 Ward; thence along the Rangitikei Line to the starting-point.

No. 7 Subdivision, containing all the land in the following circuit: Starting at the railway-line at its junction with the Stoney Creek Road; thence following the railway-line to the north-western corner of Palmerston North Borough; thence along the southern boundaries of Sections 419 and 390 to the Manawatu River; thence in a north-easterly direction along the Manawatu River to the Manchester Road District; thence following the boundary of the Manchester Road District to the starting-point.

That there shall be one member of the Board for each ward or subdivision.

I hereby certify that the above special order was made at the regular meeting of the Manawatu Road Board held on the 13th day of August, 1895, and was confirmed at a special meeting of the Board held on the 12th day of September, 1895.

THE following special order, made by the Manawatu Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

MANAWATU ROAD BOARD.—SPECIAL ORDER.

For the payment of interest on loan of £115 at 5 per cent. for twenty-six years, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and “The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886,” and the respective amendments, to clear, form, and metal Kelvin Grove Road from James Line to the Stoney Creek-Bunnythorpe Road, an annual special rate is made of ½d. in the pound for twenty-six years on the rateable values of the following properties—viz., Sections 501, 502, 503, 504, 505, 506, 507, 508, and 1531; Lots 30, 31, 38, 39, 40, and 41 of Section 413, Lots 42 and 43 of Section 414, Lot 53 of Section 415, and Lot 54 of Section 416, Blocks VII. and VIII., Kairanga; such rate to be payable by equal instalments on the 1st days of February and August in each year, at the Board's office, Palmerston North. Cost of raising loan to be paid out of loan.

I certify that the above special order was made at the meeting of the Board held on the 10th September, 1895, and confirmed at a special meeting held on the 17th October 1895.

MASTERTON ROAD DISTRICT.

RESULT of a poll, taken on the 19th October, 1895, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £180 for acquiring and forming an extension of the Black Creek Road:—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 2, representing 2 votes: Number of ratepayers voting in favour of the proposal, 2, representing 2 votes.

As the whole of the ratepayers interested voted in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the same to be carried.
