bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be con-
structed, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively,
shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Proclamation,
be under the exclusive care, control, and management of
such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in
such Proclamation ; and may, by any such Proclamation as
aforesaid, fix and determine whether all or any, and, if so,
what, part of the cost, whether theretofore incurred or there-
after to be incurred, of maintaining, repairing, improving,
or reconstructing any such bridge is to be provided and paid
by the local authority or local authorities, and, if so, by what
local authority or authorities ; and may, by any such Pro-
clamation as aforesaid, direct how, when, and to whom any
such payment is to be made:
And whereas it is expedient that provision should be made
under the hereinbefore in part recited Act for the purposes
hereinafter mentioned :
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of
the powers and authorities in me vested by the said Act, and
of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me
in this behalf, do hereby direct that the bridge known as the
Upper Opihi Bridge, together with such approaches and pro-
tection works as are mentioned and defined in the Schedule
hereto, shall, from and after the date of this Proclamation,
be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the
Geraldine County Council; and, in further pursuance and
exercise of the powers aforesaid, I do hereby fix and deter-
mine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or
reconstructing the said bridge, with the approaches and pro-
tection works as aforesaid, is to be provided and paid by the
Geraldine County Council and the Levels County Council in
equal proportions.
And I do hereby also further direct that any contribution
hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Levels
County Council shall be paid from time to time in the pro-
portion hereinbefore prescribed out of the county funds of
the said county within a period of thirty days after demand
in writing made by or on behalf of the said Geraldine County
Council, and all such payments shall be made from time to
time to the Clerk of the said County Council for and on
account of such county.
SCHEDULE.
Upper Opihi Bridge.
The bridge known as the Upper Opihi Bridge, on the road
from Pleasant Point to Raincliff, extending from the right
bank of the Opihi River, at a point near the northern corner
of Section No. 20108, Block XIII., Opihi Survey District, to
the left bank of the said river at the southern boundary of
Section No. 22226, a length of 540ft., more or less, together
with approaches at the northern end of the said bridge, 33ft.
long; the fences appertaining to the said approaches; the
protective fence, 3½ chains long, on the upper side of the said
bridge, and at its northern end; and also such fences as
appertain to the southern approach of the said Upper Opihi
Bridge: be all the aforesaid distances more or less ; as the
said bridge, approaches, and fences are delineated on the plan
marked S.G. 27065, deposited in the Head Office of the De-
partment of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wel-
lington Land District, and thereon marked in red.

Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George: Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies;
and issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington, this
third day of October, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred
by the one hundred and sixty-second section of "The
Land Act, 1892," and of all other powers and authorities
enabling me in this behalf, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the block of land described in the Schedule
hereto shall be and the same is hereby set apart and declared
open for special settlement.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon
me by the one hundred and thirteenth section of "The
Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Friday,
the sixth day of December, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-five, as the time at which the lands enumerated
in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction, and I
do hereby fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold
as those mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the
description of such lands respectively.
