the said section: And whereas the said Council hath accordin-
gly submitted to me the name of "Allanton" in lieu of
the existing name of "Greytown":
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred on me by sections two and four of
"The Designation of Districts Act, 1894," and of all other
powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, David,
Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, do hereby proclaim and declare that the name of the
Township of Greytown, in the Taieri County, shall be and
the same is hereby altered to "Allanton," and do assign the
last-mentioned name to such township accordingly, and also
do hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall
take effect on and after the first day of December, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies;
and issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-second day of May, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.

James Brooks Hackworth, of Tawa Flat,

the Counties of Hutt, Horowhenua, Wairarapa North, Wai-
rarapa South, Pahiatua, Oruua, Manawatu, Kiwitea, and
Pohangina, and within all the town districts and boroughs
situated within the said counties.

Result of poll taken on the 19th day of September, 1895,
upon the proposal to borrow £800 to complete the metalling
of the Cheal Road, as originally proposed under the £1,200
loan proposal carried for that road, such sum of £1,200 be-
ing found insufficient:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 14; number of votes
exercisable, 14: Number of ratepayers voting in favour of
the proposal, 9; number of votes recorded, 9; number of
ratepayers voting against the proposal, nil.
I declare the above proposal to be carried.

The following is the result of poll on the proposals to borrow
£1,720 for construction of Mangamako and Otara Roads, in
the Hautapu Riding of the Kiwitea County:—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 48, representing 72 votes:
Votes recorded for the proposal, 50; number of ratepayers
voting, 35; votes against, 7.
As a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour
of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to
more than one-half of the votes that can be exercised by the
whole number of ratepayers, I hereby declare the proposals
to be carried.
