Allocating Land reserved and taken for a Railway to the
Purposes of a Road in Southland County.

GLASGOW, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto
forms part of land taken for the purposes of a
railway passing through Sections 471, 508, and 688, situate
in the Hokonui Survey District, and it is considered desir-
able to allocate such land to the purposes of a road:

And whereas it has been certified by the Minister for
Railways that such land is not required for railway purposes:
And whereas such land is situated in Southland County, the
local authority of which has consented to the issue of this
Proclamation:

And whereas His Excellency the Governor is of opinion
that the said local authority can conveniently construct and
maintain the said road:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of
the powers and authorities in me vested by section one hun-
dred and seventy-seven of "The Public Works Act, 1894,"
and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling
me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto shall, upon the publi-
cation hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, become a road, and
that the said road shall be under the control of the South-
land County Council, and shall be maintained by the said
Council in like manner as other public highways are con-
trolled and maintained by the said Council.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Southland Land District, in Hokonui
Survey District, containing by admeasurement 8 acres 3
roods 4·6 perches, more or less, being a strip of land 100
links wide, part of the Waimau Plains Branch Railway
Reserve, between Pyramid and Riversdale. Bounded
towards the north-east by a road-line 50 links wide, by the
abuttal of a road 100 links wide, by part of Section No. 508,
by the abuttal of a road 100 links wide, by part of Section
No. 471, and by the abuttal of a road 100 links wide (the
main road to Gore), a distance of 8867·6 links; towards the
south-west by the continuation of the southern side of the
main road to Gore, 128·6 links; again towards the south-west
by other part of the said Railway Reserve, 8688·7 links; and
towards the north-west by the production of the north-west
boundary-line of Section No. 688, 140 links: be all the afore-
said linkages more or less; as the said parcel of land is more
particularly delineated upon the plan marked 6557, deposited
in the office of the Minister for Railways, at Wellington, and
thereon coloured purple.

Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and St. George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies;

the Government House, at Wellington, this
thirtieth day of August, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.

Amended Description of Hauraki Mining District.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by "The Mining Act, 1891" (hereinafter
termed "the said Act"), I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby revoke
the Proclamation constituting the Hauraki Mining District,
published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 61, of the twenty-
second day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-five, and in lieu thereof do hereby proclaim and de-
clare that the portion of the colony particularly described in
the Schedule hereto shall be the Mining District of Hauraki
under the said Act, with the boundaries in the said Schedule
mentioned.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH ISLAND.—HAURAKI MINING DISTRICT.

All that area in the Auckland Land District, bounded
towards the north-east generally by the sea and Tauranga
Harbour, from Cape Colville to the Kaituna River; thence
by the estuary of that river towards the south-east, by the
road from Maketu to Rotorua, to a point where a line drawn
from Trig. Station No. 27 (Puwhehua) over the trig. station
on Te Taheke intersects the said road; thence towards the
south-west by a right line over the said Te Taheke Trig.
Station to the said Trig. Station No. 27 (Puwhehua), thence
by a right line to Weraiti Trig. Station; thence towards the
south and south-west by Okauia No. 1a Block; and again
towards the south-west generally by the left bank of the
Waihou or Thames River, the Firth of Thames, and the
Hauraki Gulf to Cape Colville, the place of commencement:
save and excepting Sections Nos. 11 and 18, Block I.; Sec-
tion No. 19, Block VII.; Sections Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9,
20 and 26, Block XI.; Sections Nos. 12, 13, 15, 16, and 22,
Block XV., Hastings Survey District: comprising an area
of 3,295 acres.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies;
and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House, at Wellington, this fifth
day of September, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.

Changing the Name of Oxford (Auckland).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS there are now existing two places in the
Colony of New Zealand bearing the same name,
that is to say, the Township of Oxford in the County of
Ashley, and the Township of Oxford in the Piako County,
the last-named being the more recent in date of existence:
And whereas, under the fourth section of "The Designation
of Districts Act, 1894," I lately required the County Council
of the Piako County, being the local authority having juris-
diction in that behalf, to submit a new name for such town-
ship for my approval, as mentioned in the said section:
And whereas the said Council hath accordingly submitted to
me the name of "Tirau" in lieu of the existing name of
"Oxford":

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred on me by sections two and four of
"The Designation of Districts Act, 1894," and of all other
powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, David,
Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the name of the Town-
ship of Oxford in the Piako County shall be and the same is
hereby altered to "Tirau," and do assign the last-mentioned
name to such township accordingly, and also do hereby
proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect
on and after the first day of December, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-five.

Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's

Wairarapa South, and the Township of Greytown, in the
Tairi County, the last-named being the more recent in date
of existence: And whereas, under the fourth section of
"The Designation of Districts Act, 1894," I lately required
the County Council of the Tairi County, being the local
authority having jurisdiction in that behalf, to submit a new
name for such township for my approval, as mentioned in
the said section: And whereas the said Council hath accord-
ingly submitted to me the name of "Allanton" in lieu of
the existing name of "Greytown":

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred on me by sections two and four of
