Rough broken country. Light under scrub and light soil. Timber, black-birch and big manuka. Improvements on section consist of about 30 acres cleared.

Very steep broken country, with exceedingly dense under scrub. Timber, chiefly big manuka. Fair soil.

General Description of Pohui Sections.—The block may be classed as limestone country. The sections are all well watered and suitable for pastoral purposes; and lie to the westward of the main Napier-Taupo Road, about twenty-eight miles from Napier. They are about two or three miles distant from the main road, and can be reached by the road that runs through Messrs. Gordon and Moore's property.

Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-third day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

Sections 1 and 2, open land and very sandy, facing Tairua Harbour, near entrance; situated from one mile and a half to two miles from Tairua Post-office. Section 4, about 40 acres level land, balance steep, but of fair quality; covered with good deal of pohutukawa bush, and well watered; situated one mile and a half from Post-office, Tairua; this section is occupied by Natives, who have cultivations to value of £30. Section 5, generally level; sandy soil, covered with fern and tea-tree, and well watered; situated half a mile from Tairua Post-office, and fronting the ocean.
