THE following notices, received from the Chairman of the Wirokino Road Board, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886.”

WIROKINO ROAD BOARD, COUNTY OF HOROWHENUA.

Result of polling for Buckley Road West Loan of £500:—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 13; number of votes on roll, 14: Ratepayers voting in favour, 10; votes in favour, 11; votes not recorded, 3.

As a majority of the ratepayers, exercising more than one-half the votes on the special roll, have voted in favour, I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

The following is the result of the poll taken on the proposal to borrow £300 for widening and deepening the Aratangata Road drain:—

Ratepayers on special roll, 4; votes exercisable, 10: Ratepayers voting in favour, 3; votes in favour, 8; votes not recorded, 2.

As a majority of the ratepayers, representing a majority of the votes, have voted in favour, I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

Notice to Mariners, No. 23 of 1895.

TURANGANUI RIVER, GISBORNE, POVERTY BAY.

THE Gisborne Harbour Board have notified that vessels bound into Turanganui River should not anchor less than half a mile S.S.W. (magnetic) of the end of the breakwater, 5½ fathoms, so that they could sail into the river with the wind at S.E., if necessary.

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 11 of 1894, published by this department on the 5th March, 1894, the following Notice to Mariners, received from the Presidency Port Officer, Madras, is published for general information.

With reference to para. 3 of this office Notice to Mariners, No. 4, of 21st March, 1894, it is hereby notified that from the 1st September, 1895, a white occulting light, range fourteen miles, visible from all directions seaward, will be exhibited from the former light column.

  1. One occultation will take place every half a minute—27½ seconds light and 2½ seconds eclipse.

Notice to Mariners, No. 25 of 1895.

POSITION OF ROCK REPORTED IN POVERTY BAY.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 19th July, 1895.

CAPTAIN Fairchild, of the Government steamer “Hinemoa,” who has been engaged searching for rocks in Poverty Bay on which the steamers “Anglian” and “Wairoa” are reported to have struck, reports that he has found a rock with 10ft. of water on it at low-water spring-tides, near the position given by the masters of those vessels, and states that it is fully half a mile further out than anything shown on the chart, and is very dangerous, being just in the track of vessels. A red buoy has been placed on the west side of this danger.

Tua Motu bears E. ½ N., and Pah Hill N.N.E., from the rock.

Notice of Intention to take Lands for a Sludge-channel and Tailings-site.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” for a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a sludge-channel and tailings-site: And notice is further given that the plan of the said land so required to be taken is deposited in the Warden's Court, Ross, and is there open for inspection, and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public works or by the taking of the said land shall, if they have any well-grounded objection to the execution of the said public works or to the taking of such land, set forth such objection in writing, and send such writing within forty days from the publication of this notice to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

Revoking a certain Notice published under “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894.”

NOTICE is hereby given that, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities me hereto enabling, I, William Pember Reeves, Minister of Labour, hereby revoke and cancel so much of a certain notice published by me in the New Zealand Government Gazette on the 7th day of February, 1895, as relates to the day on which shops in Petone shall be closed.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities me hereto enabling, and in terms of notice in writing duly received by me from the Chairman of the Conference of Delegates of all the local authorities comprised in the district constituted for the purposes of that Act by the Boroughs of Petone and Lower Hutt (being all the boroughs or town districts any part of any one of which is situate within a mile of any part of another), I, William Pember Reeves, Minister of Labour, hereby appoint Wednesday to be the day on which all shops in the said district shall be closed, as provided by that Act.
