(2.) Conveyance, made on or about the 11th day of May,
1883, from Ereti Rangiwaha, Hoani Muhu, Hori
Mokoera, Hana Karangatai, Hoana Hautapu, Honi
Rangi, Harete Kingi, Petuere Kowhai, Peta
Komaru, Ritihia Rewiti, Ruta Pawhiro, Rutene
Kuhukuhu, Nepia Tahuna, Mere Kauere, Kereama
Kaipara, and Henere Potai to the New Zealand
Native Land Settlement Company (Limited), for the
consideration of £6,750 sterling, as above mentioned.
d. The land which was intended to be alienated by the
above-mentioned conveyances is the land called the Manga-
waru Block, above described, the original title to which is a
certificate of title under "The Native Land Court Act,
1880," bearing date the 21st day of March, 1882.
e. The estate in the said land which the said applicants
seek to obtain is an estate in fee-simple.
f. The manner in which and the persons through whom
the applicants came to be invested with the title to the said
land which they now hold are as follows:—
(1.) Conveyance as above set out, Natives to the New Zea-
land Native Land Settlement Company (Limited).
(2.) Memorandum of mortgage, dated the 3rd day of July,
1888, by the said New Zealand Native Land Settle-
ment Company (Limited) to the Bank of New
Zealand.
(3.) Memorandum of transfer, dated the 5th day of
August, 1890, by the said bank to the Bank of New
Zealand Estates Company (Limited).
(4.) Memorandum of transfer, dated the 10th day of July,
1891, by the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
Gisborne to the said Bank of New Zealand Estates
Company (Limited).
(5.) Memorandum of agreement, dated the 17th day of
February, 1892, between the said Bank of New
Zealand Estates Company (Limited), W. L. Rees,
and the said applicants.

c. The address for service of the applicants in the Town
of Gisborne is at the office of Messrs. Rees and Day,
solicitors.
n. The applicants desire the estates and interests of the
said Natives mentioned in paragraph c hereof bound by the
decrees of this Court, and require that copies of this applica-
tion may be served on them or their representatives accord-
ing to the list herewith.
The applicants desire that all others who may claim to be
interested in this matter shall be treated as parties to these
proceedings.

HOLDEN AT GISBORNE.

In the matter of "The Native Land (Validation of Titles)
Act, 1893"; and in the matter of the Mangaheia No. 2
Block.
a. WE, James Carroll, licensed interpreter, and Wiremu
Pere, sheep-farmer, both of Gisborne, apply under
the above-mentioned Act for validation of thirty-seven inter-
ests in the block of land situated at Tolago Bay, in the Native
Land Court District of Gisborne, containing 9,972 acres,
more or less, and called or known as the Mangaheia No. 2
Block.
b. The applicants desire to appear before the Validation
Court on Thursday, the 22nd August, 1895, at the hour of
10 o'clock in the forenoon, or so soon thereafter as counsel
can be heard in that behalf.
c. The nature of the transaction proposed for validation
is a conveyance made on or about the 29th May, 1882, from
Hepeta Maitai, Kingi Hori Toa, Raniera Turoa, Ema Miro-
miro, Kihi Tupara, Pirimona Tupara (as successor to Hoana
Aparangi), Harawira Karaha, Hare Mohi, Haromi Waerenga-
hika (as successor to Ani Puihi), Henare Ruru, Ani Rekina,
Mehaka Ngahui, Mere Haehae, Ka Wairoro, Heni te Wera
(as successor to Ani Puihi), Paraire, Eru Moanahia, Hirini
Tupara, Rutene Tamitami (as successor to Hakaraia Tami-

Hakaraia Tamitami), Mere Whaki, Raki te Amaru, Eru te

Ramari Kanere (as successor to Tamihana Kaharai), Karauria
Pahura, Arapera Pahura, Rutene Kuhukuhu (as a successor
to half interest of Pirika Kara), Hataraka Temepara (as
successor to Pehimuna Rikiriki), Rapata Taita (as husband
of Ka Wairoro), Mihaera Koura (as husband of Mere Whaki),
Hono te Huhu (as husband of Raiha Tutu), Harawira
Tupara (as husband of Ramari Kanere), to the New Zealand
Native Land Settlement Company (Limited), for the con-
sideration of £4,900 sterling.
d. The land which was intended to be alienated by the
said conveyance of the 29th May, 1882, is the land called or
known as Mangaheia No. 2, hereinbefore described. The
title to the said land at the time the said conveyance was
executed was certificate of title under section 17 of "The
Native Land Act, 1867," in favour of sixty-five owners, and
dated the 27th February, 1871.
e. The estate the applicants desire to obtain is an estate
in fee-simple.
f. The applicants came to be invested with the title
through the said New Zealand Native Land Settlement
Company (Limited) as follows:—
(1.) Conveyance, Natives to the New Zealand Native Land
Settlement Company, made on or about the 29th
May, 1882, as above set out.
(2.) Mortgage, dated the 3rd July, 1888, by the said New
Zealand Native Land Settlement Company (Limited)
to the Bank of New Zealand.
(3.) Memorandum of transfer, dated the 5th August, 1890,
by the said bank to the Bank of New Zealand
Estates Company (Limited), of all the estate and
interest of the said bank in and to (inter alia) the
said land.
