THE following special order, made by the Kiwitea County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of "The Counties Act, 1886."

SPECIAL ORDER.—KIWITEA COUNTY COUNCIL.

It is hereby declared that the Kiwitea Road District be merged in the Kiwitea County, and the Road Board of the said district dissolved, in accordance with the prayer of rate-payers set forth in the petition presented to the Council in that behalf, and also in accordance with the provisions of "The Counties Act, 1886." Such special order to take effect from the date of gazetting.

I hereby certify that the above special order was made by the Kiwitea County Council at a special meeting held on Saturday, the 25th day of May, 1895, and confirmed at a special meeting held on Saturday, the 29th day of June, 1895.

Notice to Mariners, No. 19 of 1895.

PERANO SHOAL, OFF BLACKWOOD BAY, QUEEN CHARLOTTE SOUND, COOK STRAIT.

Wellington, N.Z., 26th June, 1895.

WITH reference to Notice to Mariners, No. 44 of 1894, it is hereby notified that the shoal referred to therein, which will be known as "Perano Shoal," and which lies off the eastern head of Blackwood Bay, Queen Charlotte Sound, has been surveyed by Captain Fairchild, of the Government steamer "Hinemoa."

The centre of the shoal is in latitude 41° 13' 41" S., and longitude 174° 7' 10" E., and it runs in a north-west and south-east direction one cable's length, and in a south-west and north-east direction three-quarters of a cable. There is 3 fathoms of water on the shallowest part of the shoal at low-water spring tides.

A red cask buoy has been moored on the south side of this danger in 3½ fathoms of water, with 8 fathoms 30ft. south of the buoy.

Ships navigating this part of Queen Charlotte Sound should pass on the south side of the above-mentioned buoy.

All bearings are correct magnetic.

Notice to Mariners, No. 20 of 1895.

MACE ROCK, CROISELLES HARBOUR, BLIND BAY.

Wellington, N.Z., 27th June, 1895.

CAPTAIN FAIRCHILD, of the Government steamer "Hinemoa," has surveyed the rock in Croiselles Harbour reported by Mr. Mace, and found that it lies a quarter of a mile north-north-east of Hypolite Point, and is just awash at low-water spring tides.

To keep clear of this danger, ships, when in its vicinity, should not come inside of a straight line drawn between Cape Soucis and Lone Rock.

All bearings are correct magnetic.

Notice to Mariners, No. 21 of 1895.

HAPUKA SHOAL, CROISELLES HARBOUR, BLIND BAY.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 27th June, 1895.

CAPTAIN FAIRCHILD, of the Government steamer "Hinemoa," has surveyed Hapuka Shoal, in Croiselles Harbour, and found that it is in latitude 41° 3' 50" S., and longitude 173° 38' 35" E.; that it is three-quarters of a cable's length in extent, and has 4½ fathoms of water on the shallowest part of it at low-water spring tides, with deep water all round.

The following are the bearings of distant objects, taken from the centre of the shoal, which lies one mile and a half E. ½ S. from Cape Soucis :—

Cape Soucis .. .. .. W. ½ N.
Hypolite Point .. .. .. N.W. ½ N.
Motuanaru (high conical island) .. N. by E. ¼ E.

All bearings are correct magnetic.
