Notice to Mariners, No. 2 of 1895.

EXTENSION OF QUEEN'S WHARF, ETC., WELLINGTON HARBOUR.

THE Wellington Harbour Board has given notice that works are being carried out for the extension of the Queen's Wharf and Jervois Quay, Wellington Harbour. The works comprise the extension southward of the middle tee for 75ft., the extension southward of the outer tee 120ft., and the extension northward of the outer tee 105ft. at the Queen's Wharf, and works at Jervois Quay for 220ft. southward of the 40-ton crane.

Masters of vessels should be cautious when approaching the works.

Notice to Mariners, No. 3 of 1895.

WESTPORT SIGNAL BALLS AND LIGHTS ON TRAINING-WALLS.

Wellington, N.Z., 15th January, 1895.

THE Westport Harbour Board has given notice that on and after the 18th instant the colour of the signal-balls shown on the flagstaff-yard will be changed from white to black. The Board also notifies that on and after the above date the lower or extreme ends of the half-tide training-walls on the south-west side of the river will be marked by one white light on each wall, situated above and below the mouth of the lagoon respectively. The short training-wall on the north-east side of the river opposite the mouth of the lagoon will be marked by a white light placed on its extreme end.

The two red leading lights, bearing about S.E. and N.W. magnetic, mark the fairway of the river, as formerly; the white lights mentioned merely show the ends of the training-walls referred to.

Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

IN accordance with "The Government Railways Act, 1894," I, Richard John Seddon, acting for the Minister for Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in and additions to the scale of fares, rates, and charges on the New Zealand Government Railways, to come into force on and after the twenty-first day of January, 1895:—

PART III.—GOODS: REGULATIONS.

Fruit.

Fruit, New-Zealand-grown, fresh, packed, will be charged at the following rates for any distance :— s. d.
Not exceeding 56lb. .. .. .. 0 6
Over 56lb., but not exceeding 112lb. .. .. 1 0
For every additional 56lb. or fraction thereof .. 0 6

In addition, a charge of 3d. for each hundredweight, or part of a hundredweight, will be made for fruit, charged at above rates, consigned to Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, or Invercargill.

In no case are total charges to exceed charges otherwise provided for fruit in Parts III., IV., or V.

Returned empty fruit-cases will be carried free.

PART IV.—GOODS: LOCAL RATES.

AUCKLAND SECTION.

Tinned fish, ex ship at Helensville, consigned to Auckland, will be charged 15s. a ton, including wharfage at Helensville.

WELLINGTON SECTION.

Coal, imported, from Wellington to Petone, will be charged 3s. 2d. per ton.

Coal, native, anthracite or bituminous, from Wellington to Petone, will be charged 2s. 6d. per ton.

PART VI.—WHARVES.

AUCKLAND SECTION.

Onehunga Wharf.

When consignees do not take delivery of ships' goods from the ships' slings at the Onehunga Wharf such goods will be

received by the Railway Department, and will be subject to the charges provided under Part III. of the scale of fares, rates, and charges on the New Zealand Railways, for loading, unloading, haulage, and storage.

Rates.

All goods, produce, or stock coming from or going to settlers residing in Pelorus Sound to be free of wharfage.
