Notice of Intention to take Land for the Whananaki-
Ngunguru Road, in the Whangarei County.

N OTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the
provisions of section seventeen of "The Public Works
Act, 1894," to execute a certain public work, to wit, the
construction of a road in the Whangarei County, and for the
purposes of such public work the lands described in the
Schedule hereto are required to be taken; and notice is
further given that the plan of the said road and of the lands
so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at
Whananaki, and is there open for inspection. And notice is
hereby given that all persons affected by the execution of
the said public work or by the taking of the said lands shall,
if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution
of the said public work or to the taking of such lands, set
forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within
forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the
Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

Bonus for the Manufacture of Potassium Cyanide.

Department of Industries and Commerce,
Wellington, 17th January, 1895.

N OTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £1,000 will be
paid for the erection of a plant and the manufacture
in New Zealand of the first 200 tons of crude cyanide of
potassium from colonial produce.

  1. The plant must be capable of producing at least 70
    tons of crude cyanide of potassium annually.
  2. The crude cyanide of potassium so manufactured shall
    contain at least 70 per cent. of potassium cyanide.
  3. The bonus will be paid in two equal instalments, the
    first instalment being payable on the production of the first
    100 tons, and the second instalment on the production of
    the second 100 tons, of crude cyanide of potassium contain-
    ing the required percentage of potassium cyanide.
  4. On the completion of the plant, notice in writing must
    be sent to the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Wel-
    ington, who will appoint an officer to inspect the same,
    together with the raw material then available from which
    the cyanide of potassium is proposed to be manufactured.
  5. The officer so appointed shall from time to time inspect
    the process of manufacture, in order that he may satisfy
    himself that the whole of the cyanide of potassium is being
    manufactured from material of New Zealand production;
    and before any bonus is paid such officer will be required
    to certify that he is satisfied the crude cyanide of potassium
    is the product of New Zealand material only, and that it
    contains the required percentage of potassium cyanide.
  6. The bonus must be claimed for the first 100 tons on or
    before the 31st March, 1897, and for the second 100 tons on
    or before the 30th September, 1898.

Public Notice under "The Stock Act, 1893," re Swine-fever.

I T having been reported to me that the disease known as
"swine-fever" exists amongst pigs belonging to Mr.
J. C. Anderson, of Stirling, farmer, and running on his farm-

lands, comprising Sections 6, 7, 8, 9, in Block XIII., North
Molyneux District, I therefore, in accordance with sec-
tion 14, subsection (4), of "The Stock Act, 1893," hereby
declare such lands to be an infected place from which no
swine, carcase, or any portion thereof, or any fodder or fit-
ings, &c., shall be removed, except under the direction of an
Inspector of Stock.

Tenders for Letter-carriers' and Telegraph Messengers'
Uniforms, including Caps and Helmets.

General Post Office,

T ENDERS will be received at the General Post Office,
Wellington, until Saturday, the 22nd June proximo,
for the manufacture within the colony, from New-Zealand-
made material, of letter-carriers' uniforms—namely, tunic,
trousers, riding-trousers, overcoat, and overcoat with cape;
also for tunic and trousers made of white drill or duck, and
for caps and helmets.
Samples (except white-drill or duck garments) may be
seen at all Chief Post-offices, where also specifications and
form of tender may be obtained.
Tenders will at the same time be received for telegraph
messengers' overcoats, samples of which may be seen at any
of the principal telegraph-offices.
Tenders, quoting price for each garment, accompanied by
samples of material, to be addressed to the Hon. the Post-
master-General, General Post Office, Wellington, and in-
dorsed outside "Tender for uniforms."

administration, the Public Trustee has filed in the
office of the Supreme Court at Wellington an election to ad-
minister the several intestate estates of the persons deceased
whose names, residences, and occupations, so far as known,
are hereunder respectively set forth, their gross properties
being estimated not to exceed £250 in each case.

Alterations and Additions to the Scale of Fares and Charges
in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

I N accordance with "The Government Railways Act, 1894,"
I, Alfred Jerome Cadman, the Minister for Railways,
do hereby make the following alterations in and additions
to the scale of fares, rates, and charges on the New Zea-
land Government railways, to come into force on and after
the 1st day of June, 1895:—

PART IV.—GOODS: LOCAL RATES.
WHANGAREI SECTION.

The rate of 2s. per ton for goods of Classes P and Q from
Waro to Opau for shipment is hereby cancelled.
Goods of Classes P and Q consigned from Waro to Opau
for shipment will be charged 2s. 6d. per ton, including weigh-
ing and delivery to ship by skip.
