Warrant authorising the County Council of Pohangina to construct a Bridge over the Oroua River on the Main Road connecting Birmingham and the Feilding Special Settlement Block, and apportioning the Cost of the Bridge.

GLASGOW, Governor.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirteen of "The Public Works Act, 1894" (hereinafter termed "the said Act"), it is, inter alia, enacted that, in any case where the local authority of any district desires to construct a bridge in any position that will, in its opinion, be of advantage and benefit to the whole or any considerable portion of the inhabitants of an adjacent district, as well as to the inhabitants of its own district, and where it is, in the opinion

of such local authority, reasonable that the local authority of such adjacent district should contribute to the cost of constructing or establishing the said bridge, the following provisions in the said section mentioned shall have effect:

And whereas the County Council of Pohangina has made application to the Governor to authorise the construction of the bridge mentioned in the Schedule hereto (hereinafter referred to as "the said bridge"), and to apportion the cost of constructing the said bridge between the said Council and the Kiwitea County Council:

And whereas the said County Councils have agreed that the erection of a bridge over the Oroua River at the Oroua Valley Road is necessary to both districts, and the plans and estimated cost of the said work have likewise been agreed upon, and the relative proportions of cost determined, and no objection made thereto by the Kiwitea County Council:

And whereas the Governor is of opinion that the work should be done:

Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby authorise the County Council of Pohangina to construct the said work; and I do hereby declare that the cost of constructing the said work—namely, one thousand nine hundred and eighty-seven pounds sixteen shillings, less a sum of five hundred pounds contributed by the Government towards the construction of the said work—shall be borne in the following proportions: namely, nine hundred and ninety-one pounds seventeen shillings and fourpence shall be borne by the County Council of Pohangina, and four hundred and ninety-five pounds eighteen shillings and eightpence shall be borne by the County Council of Kiwitea, and such proportion shall be paid by the said local authorities accordingly.
