**Notice to Local Authorities under "The Government Loans
to Local Bodies Act, 1886."
The Treasury,
Wellington, 29th March, 1895.
PURSUANT to section 16 of "The Government Loans to
Local Bodies Act, 1886," the Colonial Treasurer hereby
gives notice that on Wednesday, the 1st May, 1895, he will
be prepared to consider applications from local authorities
for loans under the Act.
Applications should be addressed to the Colonial Treasurer,
and must be posted so as to arrive at the Treasury on or
before the 30th April, 1895.
Applications received between the present date and the
30th April next will be considered on the 1st May, 1895.

My LORD,—With reference to your Lordship's despatch
No. 67, of the 4th December, I have the honour to transmit
to you an Order of Her Majesty in Council applying the
20th section of "The Finance Act, 1894," to New Zea-
land.

of February, 1895.
Present:
The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty,
Lord President, Marquess of Ripon, Lord Chamberlain,
Lord Kensington, Mr. Cecil Rhodes.
Whereas by the 20th section of "The Finance Act,
1894," it is enacted that Her Majesty the Queen may, by
Order in Council, apply that section to any British possession
where Her Majesty is satisfied that by the law of such pos-
session no duty is leviable in respect of property situate in
the United Kingdom when passing on death:
And whereas Her Majesty is satisfied that by the law of
the Colony of New Zealand no duty is leviable in respect of
property situate in the United Kingdom when passing on
death:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of
the power by the aforesaid Act in Her Majesty vested, is
pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to
order, and it is hereby ordered, that the 20th section of
"The Finance Act, 1894," shall apply to the Colony of New
Zealand.

**Notice as to the Day for closing under "The Shops and
Shop-assistants Act, 1894."
WHEREAS the local authority mentioned in the first
column of the Schedule hereto has duly notified to
me that the day upon which the shops in its district shall
be closed, pursuant to the provisions of "The Shops and
Shop-assistants Act, 1894," is the day set opposite its
name in the second column of the said Schedule: Now,
therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred
upon me by the said Act, I, William Pember Reeves,
Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint that the said day
shall be the day upon which all shops within the said
district shall be closed.

Revocation of Appointment of Bonding Warehouse.
CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the authority in me for this
purpose vested, I, the Commissioner of Trade and
Customs, do, by this order under my hand, revoke and
annul the appointment of the under-mentioned warehouse
for the reception and security of goods entered to be ware-
housed without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof,
namely:—
Port of Auckland.
The warehouse known as
REID'S BOND,
as appointed and described in Commissioner's Order No. 475,
of the 25th January, 1894.
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this sixth day of

Notice of the Laying-off of Roads in the Land District of
Hawke's Bay.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under
the authority of "The Native Land Court Act, 1894," that
the roads described in the Schedule hereto have been duly
taken and laid off through the lands specified in the said
Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said
colony, by warrants dated as mentioned in the said Schedule.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Land District of Hawke's Bay, contain-
ing by admeasurement 11 acres 2 roods 8 perches, more or
less, situate in the Uru-tawa Survey District, being a road,
100 links wide, traversing the Whakapaupakihi No. 4 Block,
the eastern side of which commences at road-peg No. xv.,
1092·4 links, more or less, distant, and bearing N. 67° 33' W.
from peg No. xiv.a, Motu River traverse; and proceeds in a
southerly direction, 11567·7 links, more or less, to road-
traverse peg No. iv.a of a cross-road: as the same is deli-
neated on Plan No. 287, deposited in the Survey Office at
Gisborne.
Also all that area in the Land District of Hawke's Bay,
containing by admeasurement 4 acres and 20 perches, more
or less, situate in the Uru-tawa Survey District, being a road,
100 links wide, traversing the Whakapaupakihi No. 4 Block,
the eastern side of which commences at road traverse-peg
No. iv.b of a cross-road; and proceeds in a southerly direc-
tion, 4126·2 links, more or less, to the northern boundary of
Whakapaupakihi No. 2 Block: as the same is delineated on
Plan No. 287, deposited in the Survey Office at Gisborne.
Also all that area in the Land District of Hawke's Bay,
containing by admeasurement 12 acres, more or less, situate
in the Uru-tawa Survey District, being a road, 100 links wide,
traversing the Whakapaupakihi No. 4 Block, the southern
side of which commences at peg No. xxiii. at the south-east
corner of Whakapaupakihi No. 1 Block; and proceeds in an
easterly direction, 12069·3 links, to the Motu River: as the
same is delineated on Plan No. 287, deposited in the Survey
Office at Gisborne.
Date of Governor's warrant, 6th February, 1891.
Also all that area in the Land District of Hawke's Bay,
containing by admeasurement 15 acres and 30 perches, more
or less, situate in the Paritu Survey District, being a road,
100 links wide and upwards, traversing the Maraetaha No. 1
Block, the centre line of which commences at road traverse-
peg No. 7 on the southern boundary of the Maraetaha Block;
