MANGANUI ROAD BOARD.
Result of poll of ratepayers of the Pembroke Road special
area taken on Thursday, 28th February, 1895, upon the pro-
posal to raise a loan of £250, under "The Government Loans
to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the purpose of graveling the
upper portion of the Pembroke Road from the end of the
present gravel to the Barclay Road; to lay aside all deferred-
payment revenue accruing to the special rating area for the
repayment of the loan; to pay out of such loan the cost of
raising; to strike as security on this loan a special rate of
5/8d. in the pound over the following lands, namely: Sec-
tions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 38, 39, part 52, 106,
107, 108, Block IV., Kaupokonui Survey District; 52, 53, 64,
65, 66, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 92, 94, 96, 109, 110, 111, 112,
113, 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 122, 123, Block I., Ngaere
Survey District:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 25; number of votes
exercisable, 26; Number of ratepayers who voted for the pro-
posal, 12; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 2.
I therefore declare the proposal lost.

Rangitikei County Council, is published in accordance
with the provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886."

COUNTY OF RANGITIKEI.—OTARA SPECIAL RATING
DISTRICT.
The following is the result of a poll taken on Thursday,
28th February, 1895, on a proposal of the Rangitikei County
Council to raise a sum of £625 by way of loan, under the
provisions of "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1886," for the
purpose of constructing the road of approach on the western
side of the Rangitikei River to the Otara Bridge site, and to
defray part of the cost of erecting such bridge, and to strike
a special rate on the value of all rateable property within
the above-mentioned special rating district:—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 78; number of votes exercis-
able, 91; Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal,
47; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 53; number
of votes recorded against the proposal, nil.
A majority of the ratepayers, exercising more than one-
half of the total number of votes exercisable, being in favour
of the proposal, I therefore declare it to be carried.

Approval of By-law to regulate Traffic on Roads and over
Bridges in the County of Raglan, as passed by the Raglan
County Council.
PURSUANT to the authority contained in the one
hundred and thirtieth section of "Public Works Act,
1894," I, John McKenzie, Minister of Lands, do hereby
approve of the within-written "By-law No. III.," made by
the County Council of the County of Raglan.
Given under my hand, this ninth day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-five.

RAGLAN COUNTY COUNCIL.—BY-LAW NO. III.
To regulate Traffic on Roads and over Bridges.
- No horses or vehicles shall be driven or led or taken over
any bridge of more than 10ft. span under the control of the
Council at other than a walking pace at any time. - No person shall take any engine, agricultural or other
machine, or any load or materials of any kind weighing more
than 2 tons on one pair of wheels or more than 4 tons on
two or more pair of wheels across any bridge within the
county without the written sanction of the County Council. - If any person shall commit any breach of sections 1
and 2 of this by-law he shall be liable to a penalty not
exceeding £5. - Any person who causes or allows any timber or other
heavy material, not being wholly raised above the ground on
wheels; to be dragged on a road shall be liable to a penalty
of not more than £10 sterling for every day upon which such
offence is committed or suffered to continue.
I hereby certify that the above By-law No. III. of the
Raglan County Council has been duly made as by law pro-
vided, and is a correct copy.

Approval of By-law regulating the Width of Tires, and
Scale of Fees to be paid, as passed by the Mount Eden
District Road Board.
PURSUANT to the authority contained in the one
hundred and thirtieth section of "The Public Works
Act, 1894," I, John McKenzie, Minister of Lands, do hereby
approve of the within-written by-law made by the Mount
Eden District Road Board.

MOUNT EDEN ROAD DISTRICT, COUNTY OF EDEN.
By-laws for the regulation of heavy traffic on the district
roads, made by special order by the Mount Eden District
Road Board, passed at a special meeting of the said Board
on the 26th day of November, 1894, and confirmed at a
special meeting of the said Board on the 7th day of January,
1895, and stamped with the common seal of the Board.
MOUNT EDEN ROAD DISTRICT.—PROPOSED BY-LAWS.
In pursuance of the provisions of "The Road Boards Act,
1882," and of "The Public Works Act, 1894," the Mount
Eden District Road Board hereby make the following
by-laws, which shall come into operation upon the date of
publication in the New Zealand Gazette:—
- The owner of any vehicle engaged in heavy traffic, used
in carting stone, earth, or scoria-ash upon any of the roads
within the boundaries of the Mount Eden Road District,
shall, before using such vehicle upon any such road, pay to
the Mount Eden District Road Board the yearly license-fee
following, that is to say,—
For vehicles having tires of the width of 4½in. or £ s. d.
over . . . . . . . . . 5 0 0
For vehicles having tires under 4½in. in width . . 10 0 0 - Provided nevertheless that the Board may in its dis-
cretion, and on application by the owner or driver of any
vehicle engaged in heavy traffic used in carting stone,
earth, or scoria-ash, permit the owner or driver of such
vehicle to use such vehicle for the purpose of carting stone,
earth, or scoria-ash upon or over all or any of the roads
within the boundaries of such road district without having
paid such license-fee upon the payment to the said Board
of the following charges, by way of compensation, for any
damage likely to occur to such roads:—
For every load carried on any one day upon or £ s. d.
over any such road . . . . . . . . . 0 1 0
If more than three loads are carried in any one
vehicle in any one day upon or over any such
roads, then for the day . . . . . . . . 0 3 0 - Any person who, after the coming into operation of this
by-law, shall use any vehicle for heavy traffic without having
first paid the said license-fee for such vehicle, or without
having first obtained the permission of the said Board under
clause 2 of these by-laws, and paid the charges prescribed
thereunder, shall be deemed to have committed a breach of
these by-laws, and on conviction thereof shall be liable to a
penalty not exceeding £5.
