and Deaths Act, 1875."

GLASGOW, Governor.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor by "The Registration of Births
and Deaths Act, 1875," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish
the existing registration district known as the Amuri
District, and do proclaim and declare that the territory
heretofore comprised within the said district is hereby
divided anew into two registration districts, the names
whereof shall be the Amuri and Cheviot Districts, and
the boundaries whereof shall be coterminous with the
boundaries of the marriage districts bearing the same names
as are set forth in a Proclamation of even date herewith,
made under the provisions of "The Marriage Act, 1880."

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation on the first day of November, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of
October, in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-four.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in the Governor by "The Marriage Act, 1880,"
I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage dis-
trict known as the Amuri District, and do proclaim and
declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the
said district is hereby divided anew into two marriage dis-
tricts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as fol-
low:β€”

AMURI DISTRICT.

All that area in the Land District of Nelson bounded
towards the north-west by the watershed between the east
and west coasts from Hurunui Pass to the Spencer Moun-
tains, and by the summit of the Spencer Mountains: towards
the north generally by the watershed over Mount Franklyn,
Mount Mackay, Mount Guinevere, and Alma Peak to the
junction of the River Alma with the River Severn; thence
by that river and the River Acheron to its intersection by a
right line from Tophouse to Barefell Pass: thence towards
the north-east generally by that line to Barefell Pass; thence
by the Guide and Acheron Rivers to the confluence of the
last-mentioned river with the River Clarence; thence by a
right line to Palmer Saddle; thence by a right line to the
nearest source of the Conway River; and thence by the Con-
way River to the sea: towards the south-east by the sea: to-
wards the south-west generally by the Waiau-ua River to its
intersection by a right line from Mount Parnassus to Mount
Pam; thence by that line to Mount Pam: again towards
the south-east by the summit of the Lowry Peaks Range:
and towards the south generally by the Hurunui River to
the Hurunui Pass aforesaid.

CHEVIOT DISTRICT.

All that area in the Land Districts of Nelson and Canter-
bury bounded towards the north and north-east generally by
a right line from Mount Pam to the Waiau-ua River drawn
in the direction of Mount Parnassus, and thence by the
northern bank of the Waiau-ua River to the sea; towards
the south-east by the sea; towards the south generally by
the Hurunui River; and towards the north-west by the
summit of the Lowry Peaks Range to Mount Pam afore-
said (the last-mentioned boundary being the boundary
between the Counties of Amuri and Cheviot).

And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation on the first day of November, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
