WAIMATE ROAD BOARD, COUNTY OF HAWERA.
RESULT of poll taken on the 29th day of September, 1894, on a proposal to raise a loan of £900, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of metalling part of the Auroa Road:—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 15, representing 15 votes: Votes recorded in favour of the proposal, 12; votes not recorded, 3.
As a majority of the ratepayers, exercising more than one-half the total number of votes, being in favour of proposal, I declare the proposal carried.

MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 24th day of September, 1894, at the residence of Mr. A. Dermer, Feilding-Awahuri Road, on a proposal to borrow £250, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and amendments thereof, to pay cost of protecting the bank of the Oroua River, near Feilding:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 7; number of votes exercisable, 14: Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 5; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, nil; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 11; number of votes recorded against the proposal, nil.
As a majority in number of the ratepayers have voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting are entitled to more than one-half in number of the votes which could be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

I HEREBY give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Ngakoroa Special District, taken on Tuesday, the 25th September, 1894, upon a proposal by this Council to raise a loan of £300 for the purpose of constructing a road to connect Waiapu Inland Road with Sections 15A, 16, and 16A, Waimata Survey District, the following votes were recorded:—
For the proposal, 6 voters, exercising 11 votes.
As the whole number of the ratepayers in the special district voted in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

PORANGAHAU ROAD BOARD.—SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT this Board strike an additional special rate of ⅛d. in the pound on all rateable property within the Porangahau Road Board District, to cover the interest on an additional loan of £300, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of completing the work on the Porangahau Bridge; such rate to be an annual recurring rate for a period of twenty-six years, and to be payable in one sum on the 1st day of January in each year.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of a resolution passed by the Porangahau Road Board at a meeting held on the 10th September, 1894, in accordance with clause 76 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to authorise “the supply of medicines and surgical appliances to members of registered friendly societies and their families” as a purpose to which the powers and facilities of “The Friendly Societies Act, 1882,” ought to be extended, in order that societies formed for this purpose may be enabled to register as specially-authorised societies under the said Act, but that the application of the Act in respect of societies registered under such special authority shall be limited, so as to exclude the operation of subsection (9) of section 13 of “The Friendly Societies Act, 1882.”

CHANGE IN COLOUR OF LEADING LIGHTS, WESTPORT.

THE Westport Harbour Board has given notice that on and after the night of Thursday, the 1st November, 1894, the colour of the fairway leading lights for entering Westport Harbour will be changed from white now shown on the back beacon and green on the front beacon, to two red lights on those beacons, the higher light being shown on the back beacon, 50ft. high. The magnetic bearing of beacons will not be changed. It is S. by E. ½ E.
