A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by
section thirteen of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David,
Earl of Glasgow, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
do by this notice hereby proclaim as opened the road in the
Borough of Hamilton hereinafter described, that is to say:-
All that area within the Borough of Hamilton, being part of
Lot No. 44, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 39 perches,
more or less, being a strip of land 100 links wide, the north-
western side of which commences at a point on the north-
east side of Victoria Street in line with the south-west
boundary of Lot No. 43, and distant 219.8 links from the
westernmost corner of said Lot No. 43, and proceeds by a right
line to Hamilton Parade, a distance of 494.3 links, to a point
in line with the north-eastern boundary-line of said Lot
No. 43 distant 220 links from the northernmost corner of said
Lot No. 43: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the
same is more particularly delineated upon the plan marked
S.G. 23422, deposited in the Head Office of the Department
of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land
District, and thereon coloured brown and hatched red.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,"
it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Go-
vernor may at any time, upon the petition of the Mayor and
Council of a borough, publicly notified, by a Proclamation
alter the boundaries of such borough so as to include therein
any part of the foreshore or any land reclaimed from the sea
adjacent to such borough: And whereas a petition has
been presented to me by the Mayor and Councillors of the
Borough of Timaru, praying me to alter the boundaries of
the said borough so as to include therein the land lying
between the present boundary of the Borough of Timaru and
the present high-water mark of the sea, being lands re-
claimed from the sea and foreshore adjacent to the said
borough:
Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers and
authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the boundaries of the said borough are
hereby altered so as to include within the limits of the said
borough the land lying between the present boundary of the
borough of Timaru and the present high-water mark of the
sea; and that the said borough shall henceforth be bounded as
specified in the First Schedule hereto; and, further, that the
boundaries of the North-west Ward, the North-east Ward,
the South-west Ward, and the South-east Ward of the said
borough shall be those described in the Second Schedule
hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
BOROUGH OF TIMARU.-EXTENDED BOUNDARIES.
ALL that area in the Arowhenua and Patiti Survey Districts,
in the Canterbury Land District, bounded towards the
north-west generally by Whale's Creek; towards the north-
east generally by the present high-water mark of the sea
to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary-line of
Sections Nos. 122 and 128, Town of Timaru; towards the
south-east by a right line to and thence by the said
boundary-line and its production in a south-westerly direc-
tion to Rural Section No. 1702; towards the south by the
said Section No. 1702, by Rural Section No. 2367, a road,
Rural Sections Nos. 1706 and 1607; towards the west by the
last-mentioned section, a road, by Rural Section No. 1606, a
road, and Rural Section No. 707, again towards the south by
that section and Section No. 1547, and again towards the
west by a road and Rural Section No. 1652 to Whale's Creek
aforesaid.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
NORTH-WEST WARD.
BOUNDED towards the north-west generally by Whale's
Creek; towards the north-east by the present high-water
mark of the sea to a point in line with the eastern side of
Theodocia Street; thence towards the east by a right
line to and thence by the eastern side of that street;
towards the north-east by the north-eastern side of
Sophia Street and its continuation to the southern side of
George Street; towards the south-east by the southern side
of George street; again towards the north-east by the north-
eastern side of Latter Street to North Street; thence by a
right line across North Street to the north-western corner of
Section No. 140; towards the south by the southern side of
North Street to a point in line with the eastern boundary-
line of Rural Section 1652; thence towards the west by a
right line to and thence by that boundary-line to Whale's
Creek aforesaid.
NORTH-EAST WARD.
Bounded towards the north-east generally by the present
high-water mark of the sea from a point in line with the
eastern side of Theodocia Street to a point in line with the
southern side of North Street; thence towards the south by
a right line to and thence by the southern side of that street;
and thence towards the south-west generally by North-west
Ward hereinbefore described.
SOUTH-WEST WARD.
Bounded towards the north by North Street; towards the
east by the eastern side of Cross Street; towards the south-
east by the south-eastern side of George Street and its
production to Rural Section No. 1606; and towards the
west by that section, a road, and Rural Section No. 707.
SOUTH-EAST WARD.
Bounded towards the north by North Street and the pro-
duction of its southern side in an easterly direction to the
present high-water mark of the sea; thence towards the east
and north-east by the present high-water mark of the sea to
a point in line with the south-eastern boundary-line of
Sections Nos. 122 and 128, Town of Timaru; towards the
south-east by a right line to and thence by the said
boundary-line and its production in a south-westerly direc-
tion to Rural Section No. 1702; towards the south by the
said Section No. 1702, by Rural Section No. 2367, a road,
Rural Sections Nos. 1706 and 1607; towards the south-west
by the last-mentioned section, a road, and Rural Section
No. 1606; and towards the north-west and west by South-
west Ward, hereinbefore described.
