A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by the eighth section of "The Taranaki
Botanic Garden Act, 1876," I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

WILLIAM LITCHFIELD NEWMAN

to be a member of the Board of Trustees for Public Recrea-
tion, in the room of John Barton Roy, resigned.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable David, Earl of Glasgow; Knight
Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this tenth day of August,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-four.

Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale
or Selection.

GLASGOW, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth
section of "The Land Act, 1892," I, David, Earl of Glasgow,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received
the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the
said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands
described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or
selection on and after the twenty-fourth day of October, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-four; and also that the
lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option
of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for
occupation with right of purchase, or on lease in perpetuity,
or, in respect of any lands containing or supposed to contain
any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in
perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which
the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned
in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands
shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the
provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

SCHEDULE.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—KAWHIA COUNTY.

Unsurveyed Second-class Land.

ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
situate in Blocks VII., X., XI., and XIV., Karioi Survey Dis-
trict, and containing approximately 8,250 acres. Bounded
towards the east by part of the western boundary of Alex-
andra Survey District; towards the south-east generally
by the Katikako Stream, and by unadjudicated Native
land; towards the south-west by Sections Nos. 9 and 7 of
Block XIII., Karioi Survey District; and towards the north-
west generally by the Manuaitu Block, by a forest reserve,
and by part of the south-eastern boundary of the Parish of
Whaingaroa to the point of commencement.

Description of Land: Broken forest country with a few
patches of open grass land, limestone formation, well
watered; situated about fourteen miles from Raglan, and
about three miles from Aotea Harbour.

Cash price, 10s. per acre; occupation with right of pur-
chase, 6d. per acre; lease in perpetuity, 4·8d. per acre.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WHANGAREI COUNTY.

Unsurveyed Second-class Land.

ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
situate in Block VII., Opuawhanga Survey District, and con-
taining by admeasurement 270 acres, more or less. Bounded
towards the north by a right line running parallel to and at
a distance of 3300 links from the northern boundary of
Section No. 11 of Block VII., Opuawhanga Survey District;
towards the east by a right line, being the production in a
northerly direction of the eastern boundary of the last-
named section; towards the south and again towards the
east by said Section No. 11; again towards the south and
east by Section No. 21 of the same block; and towards the
west by a stream to the point of commencement.

Description of Land: Broken forest land of inferior quality,
clay soil; situated about five miles from Hikurangi.

Cash price, 7s. 6d. per acre; occupation with right of pur-
chase, 4·5d. per acre; lease in perpetuity, 3·6d. per acre.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this first day of August, one thousand eight hun-
dred and ninety-four.
