THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Grey County Council, is published in accordance with section 2 of "The Rating Acts Amendment Act, 1893."

GREY COUNTY COUNCIL.
RESOLVED, That, under authority conferred by subsection (6) of section 2 of "The Rating Acts Amendment Act, 1893," this Council hereby determine that "The Rating Act, 1882," and amendments thereof, shall be in force within the Grey County, and that all assessments of property within the said county shall be made under the provisions of the said Acts.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of the resolution unanimously passed at a meeting of the Grey County Council held in the office of the said Council at 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday, the 6th day of June, 1894.

MAURICEVILLE ROAD BOARD.—RESULT OF POLL.
THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 14th of July, 1894, on a proposal to borrow £2,000, under "The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886," for the purpose of forming the Central Mangamahoe Road from the end of the present formation to the junction with the Ihuraua Valley Road:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 13, representing 14 votes: Number of ratepayers who voted in favour of the proposal, 7, representing 7 votes.
As it thus appears that a majority of the ratepayers have voted in favour of the proposal, but that the number so voting are not entitled to a majority of the votes exercisable, I hereby declare the proposal rejected.

By-law regulating Width of Tires on Wheels of Vehicles to be used on Oxford-Rotorua Road, Tauranga-Napier Road, Taupo-Tokaanu Road, Lichfield over Maungaiti to Ati-a-muri Road, and Taupo by way of Wairakei to Puketarata Road; also Rotorua-Galatea Road, and the Part of the Maketu-Rotorua Road between the Turn-off to Tikitere and Rotorua.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 17 of "The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1887," I, Richard John Seddon, Minister for Public Works, do by this notice make the following by-law regulating the width of tires to be used on all vehicles, whether plying for hire or not, upon the Government road from Oxford to Rotorua, the Government road from Tauranga to Napier, the Government road from Taupo to Tokaanu, the Government road from Lichfield over Maungaiti to Ati-a-muri, and the Government road from Taupo by way of Wairakei to Puketarata; and also on the Government road being that part of the Maketu to Rotorua Road between the turn-off to Tikitere and Rotorua—that is to say:—
The width of tire of any wheel used on any vehicle upon either of the said roads shall bear the following proportion to the number of animals which may be used to draw such vehicle, namely:—
