RANGITIKEI COUNTY COUNCIL.—HUNTERVILLE EXTENSION TOWNSHIP SPECIAL RATING DISTRICT.

THE following is the result of a poll, taken on Saturday, the 6th of January, 1894, on a proposal to raise a sum of £1,000 by way of loan under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and amendments thereto, for the following purpose: Formation and metalling railway-crossing to Mackay’s, £60; Mackay’s to junction with Railway Road, £80; continuation to station, £50; continuation of High Street and Rangatira Road, £120; Main Street, £170; Stewart Street, £60; Gordon Terrace, £60; and continuation of Main Street South (including necessary purchase of land and fencing), £400:—

Number of ratepayers on roll, 41; number of votes exercisable, 42: Number of ratepayers who voted for proposal, 26; number of votes recorded for proposal, 27; number of votes recorded against proposal, nil.

A majority of the ratepayers, exercising more than one-half of the total number of votes exercisable, being in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare it to be carried.

KUMEROA ROAD BOARD.—RESULT OF POLL.

THE following is the result of a poll taken at Kumeroa on the 11th January, 1894, upon a proposal to raise a loan of £200 for the purpose of metalling a portion of the Bridle-track Road.

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 1, representing 4 votes: Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 1, representing 4 votes.

I declare the proposal to be carried.

Arrangements for First Elections, &c., Kiwitea County Council.

EDMUND GOODBEHERE

to be the person to make up electors’ rolls for the Ridings of Kimbolton, Oroua, Makino, Waituna, Ongo, Hautapu, and Apiti, in the new County of Kiwitea, as constituted under “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Kiwitea County Act, 1893”; also to be the Returning Officer to conduct the first elections of members of the said County Council; and also to be the Clerk of the Kiwitea County Council for the purpose of presiding at the first meeting thereof.

Arrangements for First Elections, &c., Aorangi Land Drainage District.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint

EDWARD JOHN ARMSTRONG,

of Palmerston North, to be Returning Officer for the purpose of conducting the election of five members of the Board of Trustees of the Aorangi Land Drainage District, as constituted under “The Land Drainage Act, 1893”; also to appoint Saturday, the 10th day of February, 1894, to be the date, and the house of William Coombs, at Aorangi, to be the place, for holding such first elections; and also to appoint Saturday, the 17th day of February, 1894, at 1 o’clock p.m., to be the time, and the house of Frederick H. Luxford, at Oroua Bridge, to be the place, at which the first meeting Trustees shall be held.

Volunteer Corps disbanded.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the disbandment of the Palmerston South Rifle Volunteers as from the 29th December, 1893.

The following gentlemen therefore cease to be officers in the New Zealand Volunteer Force, their commissions having lapsed in accordance with paragraph 51, Volunteer Regulations, 1889:—

Revocation of Appointment of Bonding Warehouse.

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the authority in me for this purpose vested, I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do, by this order under my hand, revoke and annul the appointment of the under-mentioned warehouse for the reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof, namely:—

as appointed and described in Commissioner’s Order No. 301, of the 22nd May, 1888.
