And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to vest the said lands in the Pohangina Road Board:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the fourth section of "The Public Reserves Act, 1881," doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserves mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the inhabitants of the Pohangina Road District, and such reserves shall be under the control and management of the Board of such Road District, in trust for the purposes specified in the said Schedule.

Terms and Conditions of Sale and Lease of Village Allotments in Hawke's Bay Village Settlements.

THE HONOURABLE THE PREMIER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the one hundred and sixty-ninth section of "The Land Act, 1892," it is enacted that the Governor in Council may fix the terms and conditions upon which the lands in any village settlement shall be disposed of, subject as in the said section is provided: And whereas by a Proclamation made under the said Act on the seventh day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the tenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, the lands described in the First Schedule hereto have been set apart under the said Act and declared open for sale and selection as village settlements, and it is expedient to fix the terms and conditions upon which the said lands shall be disposed of:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby fix the terms and conditions on which the lands mentioned in the First Schedule hereto shall be disposed of, at the option of the applicant, either for cash, for occupation with right of purchase, or on lease in perpetuity, and which said terms and conditions are set forth in the Second Schedule hereto, and also doth direct that the lands in the said village settlement shall be divided into village allotments only.

This settlement is situated within three miles of the Township of Herbertville, at the landing-place for the steamers trading to Wellington, and, as all the produce from the settled lands in the Weber and Tautane Districts must go there for shipment, the lots are likely to become of considerable value as time goes on.

This settlement is situated on the Wainui-Tahoraite Road. It is forest land of the richest description, well supplied with totara, pines, and other useful timber, and with an abundance of water. Distant twenty-two miles from Danevirke and twenty from Wainui.
